  1. Its either your knots, the particular brand/type of flourocarbon or combination of how hard you fight the fish and how heavy your rod is. I use seguar blue label fluoro when > 10# and i can count one hand the number of fish i have broken off in the last 10 yrs in the lake including guests i bring out. Look into better knots, wet the knot before you cinch it down. Check the leader periodically for knicks and if you gave it a good beating with a few fish consider retying the knots. 2. Since a lot of it is about the look....id go with the shiny scale intact bait any day vs the freezer burned, left out in the sun looking stuff. Aka familar bite /Dreamweaver. Sent from my Pixel 2 using Lake Ontario United mobile app
  3. If the data on this link is accurate they don't need to open flood gates, just open some real ones. Mid May 2017 they were over 300,000 CFS. End of May this year on this chart link below looks to be 210,000 CFS. https://waterdata.usgs.gov/nwis/dv?referred_module=sw&site_no=04264331
  4. Last year (non flood year) I noticed more green water in the eastern bay than I've seen in looong time. I had separately heard zebra mussles were down or at least had reached some sort of equilibrium. I can't remember where I heard that but it had some legitimacy behind it wherever I heard it. Who knows. High water for sure is going to influence water clarity.
  5. Was the video by greg amiel by chance? When i was at the lotsa salmon school 2 years ago it seemed like he did this. I went to slide divers since i fish solo a lot but you make a good point about having dipsy's and using them. I have my share of dipsy's Sent from my Pixel 2 using Lake Ontario United mobile app
  6. What are you using for your connection to mono? Sent from my Pixel 2 using Lake Ontario United mobile app
  7. I really like the Cisco. End stops are integral set screws and not a plastic end piece. Ends of track are nicely rounded and not square cut. My fishmaster came with bunch of traxstech or berts. I put Cisco across the back and it made me almost want to replace the other stuff. I just dont like the plastic end caps or the squared cut ends. 8. 2017 was the first year so i guess it makes the first group of 20% reduced 2 yr olds this year. Sent from my Pixel 2 using Lake Ontario United mobile app
  9. So we are arguing over someone elses fo sale add. Something BOTH of us shoulda butted out of. Nice. Sent from my Pixel 2 using Lake Ontario United mobile app
  10. Im fairly level headed but you jumped in quick for the low baller guy and now are all for the let the guy sell his boat camp. How about lets ALL stay out of it. The low baller shoulda had a PM conversation....we all shoulda stayed out of it...end of story. Sent from my Pixel 2 using Lake Ontario United mobile app
  11. Not the answer you probably want but i ignore everything surface related on my fishhawk. As long as the probe matches up close enough on speed /temp with my FF when checked close to the surface im happy enough. Sent from my Pixel 2 using Lake Ontario United mobile app
  12. I wish you luck trying to find a pair of triples for $150 Sent from my Pixel 2 using Lake Ontario United mobile app
  13. If this doesn't work search rod tree. Its the only one for $165 https://www.ebay.com/itm/Rod-Holder-Tree-Triple-Fixed-Unit-Aluminum-Fishing-Rod-Holders-with-Base-New/172415264368?epid=1237465897&hash=item2824c02670:g:fLcAAOSw-0xYTCV~ Sent from my Pixel 2 using Lake Ontario United mobile app
  14. There's a guy on ebay selling fixed 3 rod trees for $165 and free shipping. I just bought one. It will be here tomorrow. Search rod tree. Sent from my Pixel 2 using Lake Ontario United mobile app
  15. The 25 is a big boat and a 5.7 is 250 hp if i recall correctly. I had a 232 sportcraft with a soft top and a 5.7. top end was 29 or 30 at WOT but only if flat calm. Im not sure if you have a hard top but thats a bigger boat than the 232 and 30+ yrs old it may be carrying more extra weight in water soaked decking /transom or whatever and the engine might not be as strong as it once was. Also, my current and prior fish hawk top speeds both read high compared to gps. Sent from my Pixel 2 using Lake Ontario United mobile app
  16. I see what your saying. While i have not done it i see no issu drilling thru the cav plate. I have had boats with this done (not by me). I saw no ill effects. Sent from my Pixel 2 using Lake Ontario United mobile app
  17. It could also be said that the person making the lowered offer coulda done it on PM rather than make it a public thing. Sure...its just business when selling something..but yeah its personal too. Sent from my Pixel 2 using Lake Ontario United mobile app
  18. So i hav a fishmaster and it uses exactly what is in the cabelas link below. I showed a pic i have of it in the transom of my boat. I think u have a starweld....aside from motor brand hookup questions i dont see why it wouldnt work. https://www.cabelas.com/product/Auxiliary-Motor-Connector-Rods/700014.uts?slotId=0 Sent from my Pixel 2 using Lake Ontario United mobile app
  19. I won't say your wrong with your assessment.... I'll only throw out there that NADA doesnt account for the current popularity of this model and the lack of used inventory. Since last year ive seen a bunch of WTB posts for FM 196's. I bought a new one....in part because i didnt want to pay as much for used as people were getting. Im not trying to change your mind.....but i do understand where he is coming from. Sent from my Pixel 2 using Lake Ontario United mobile app
  20. Square tail locks it up as a brown IMO. Nice fish regardless! Sent from my Pixel 2 using Lake Ontario United mobile app
  21. Agreed i was thinking the same and right by Mexico may be ok but selkirk is real close. See that new sat photo posted....it correlates with that photo. Any NE wind and it might shift. Id go to oswego just to be on the safe side Sent from my Pixel 2 using Lake Ontario United mobile app
  22. Yeah so i found this posted yesterday....view from selkirk of an ice field. Combine that with the satellite image posted on here the other day and i might call it dicey. South shore might be open if enough south wind is going but i would be careful about running at any speed. I planned to go end of this week and bailed (unfortunately) Sent from my Pixel 2 using Lake Ontario United mobile app
  23. Yeah... about what i thought. Wed morning should be a lot like that or worse after 2 15 deg nights in a row. Sent from my Pixel 2 using Lake Ontario United mobile app
  24. How tall? I have a pair of the 6" tall fixed position Sent from my Pixel 2 using Lake Ontario United mobile app
  25. On the plus side you have your boat back! I thought your outlook was grim originally. Glad i was wrong. Im with you though. I spent all winter rigging a new boat and of course obsessing over it. Now is just a waiting game. Sent from my Pixel 2 using Lake Ontario United mobile app
