  1. Set to scan. Local use channels such as 67 and 69 in my area plus 16.
  2. you and I are tortured fishing soles. Still love the pics though
  3. Fantastic analysis and I can be accused of being the guy that refuses to take his shoes off. Guy on the left no brainer. I'd have picked the guy on the right as the owner.
  4. I agree with you. This is a brush fire and its not going to burn equally. Its going to burn hot and fast where the piles of dry fuel are. Elsewhere else the burn is slower and more manageable provided reasonable actions taken. I've been watching too many folks acting like NYC is equivalent to the cornfields of Iowa....but it just hasn't made it there yet. OK yes they didn't have as many folks flying in from China but no they are not the same density. Yes it hasn't made it there as much yet but no its not the same. If we act like everywhere is a full out burn, the prevention actions will be worse than the burn through. NY upstate has always been screwed by the vast difference of downstate / NYC. This is no different.
  5. Were there any outta state guys they were talking to? I'm not going anywhere short term but eventually...… Granted I don't use the state launch but even still good to stay up on what is going on.
  6. I'd have been fired multiple times by now if I lived that close. Much like many moons ago when I was picking a college. Syracuse was thought of and even my young stupid ass knew then that I would fail out running up to the river constantly
  7. Yeah no surprise there, just jealous. I'm using the time to get some new rigs set up. If this lasts long enough I'm going to set a spread in my driveway. I'm sure if I tie a raw hide on the end of a line I could get one of my dogs to pop a rigger for me.
  8. While I'm in one of the more rural locations of NJ....this thought more than anything is why I'm going to keep my boat at home for the time being. It kills me but Murphy's law (ie sh*t happens....not my silly governor) is what will keep me at bay for now. Good luck (fishing and otherwise) to all, I don't blame or look differently on anyone who chooses differently. Granted the pictures will be tough to swallow.
  9. Until the governor lifts the current restriction (or eases it) you have to think its an unknown because of how many people travel to join in. Plus in the defense of organizers, its hard to project a cash payout when there is zero reliability on attendance. I'd love to skirt the rules, but for a while (and it kills me to say this) I'm keeping my boat where it is. I'm in NJ so I have bigger distance to consider. I was all in for dragging it up later this week for the season. If I was local....different calculation.
  10. Yeah, I think we are all just going to end up operating in a new reality for a while until its gone which really means some level of vaccine (I guess). Until then we just have to avoid swamping the medical so once the short term actions do what they do we will inevitably go into a secondary stage of life (IMO) with some combination of limitations. I'm hoping that next step is workable and even makes for good jokes and good "i'm going fishing....because its safe-er" excuses. I'm pretty anti-social so this is right in my wheelhouse (haha). I never did name my boat but I joked with my wife that "social distancing" would be a good one as fits my personality.
  11. II like Gill-T's thinking and agree with it. I'm pretty sure Gill-T is talking about when things loosen up. Short term there aren't any tournaments anyway and we are over a month away from the LOC spring derby. As to the virus, short term we have a lock down to avoid swamping the medical services I don't like it but hard to argue. Long term its going to walk among us and we are going to have to get back to life with that in mind. How that works out we will see.
  12. Nothing wrong with saying F-china. One of the strongest country of origin restrictions i have dealt with for an equipment project of mine was for equipment GOING to china.....they had a NO Chinese content restriction lol. We just have to individually remember that sourcing matters when there is a purchase choice in the future. Sent from my Pixel 2 using Lake Ontario United mobile app
  13. Damn....i was hoping to drag my boat up next week. I think the problem now is unknown lines drawn on enforcement, support etc when and where needed. Driving up i loose a wheel bearing on 81 north....now what. Could be stranded....could end up in trouble. Have to see where this settles out. I feel like NY and California are trying to one up each other Sent from my Pixel 2 using Lake Ontario United mobile app
  14. A good boat name for the solo guy would be "social distancing". Very trendy Im a frequent solo fishing guy who isnt much for crowds anyway so suddenly my approach is the cool thing to do lol Sent from my Pixel 2 using Lake Ontario United mobile app
  15. Way back when the trade towers were hit and flights shut down i was in Louisiana for work. I kept my rental car, rental company was cool with it and i drove home. It was interesting and memorable.....it is what it is. Good luck fishing! Sent from my Pixel 2 using Lake Ontario United mobile app
  16. Nice... good luck! We got into jacks today. I jumped a tarpon at dusk and my buddy followed up just after with a buzzer beater on the last drift Sent from my Pixel 2 using Lake Ontario United mobile app
  17. Nice....down here now as well. Went out yesterday...going out this afternoon. Sent from my Pixel 2 using Lake Ontario United mobile app
  18. Go 72" shaft. I have that and Yamahas on my fishmaster 196. I wanted the Yamahas....that was happening or the boat brand was changing. The 72" TM shaft is what i have an is good until a chop greater than 2'-3' then it depended on situations. Pitching into them...was less good. Going with them, no prob. I had the same 72" shaft on my prior 18pro starweld….the usefulness on 2-3' into them vs with them was pretty similar. 60 would be fine if you are calm water only. 19. Sweet! I have Gary D rigs strung with Fluorocarbon that will get me through!
  20. We named our Chocolate Lab Dipsy. Full name Dipsy Diver......or just Diver!!!! when she creates an all hell breaks loose moment which is often. Holy Diver would be her theme song.
  21. I'll joke only to say the cold helps keep the numbers down...haha. Many things I like about Canada and some I don't. Same can be said for my opinion of the US..... many commonalities. Its probably why I think of Canada highly and the people I've interacted with.
  22. Agreed, common fuel is best. If you are going to buy a motor at least buy a 4 stroke 8. If you already have one, I would understand wanting to use that one first. A kicker literally mounted to the outdrive while seemingly nice in simplicity concept sounds like a breakdown in the making, lost kicker or both. While I have never done it or seen one it is setting alarm bells off in my head. This is probably why photos are hard to find. I deal with strength of materials, design and engineering as my day to day means to fund my fishing exploits. All I can say is I recommend against anything like that. Good luck with your setup. Its always a challenge figuring out how to make it all work best for you without breaking the bank
  23. It would probably work but im thinking it might be marginal. My fishmaster 196 has a 9.9 and its fine but im farther into the throttle than i than i thought id be going into chop trolling at salmon speed Sent from my Pixel 2 using Lake Ontario United mobile app
