  1. Not an easy yes unfortunately. That's a trial and error thing. The motion sensor beam on the ones I bought is pretty narrow. Potentially one on the doc pointing at the dock and One in the cabin pointing inside the cabin which then wouldn't go off if rocking. my boat is on a trailer so my issues are different.
  2. A little late but for piece of mind in the future, they make battery powered led spot lights with motion sensor that are dirt cheap. 2 of those and a sign that says, smile your on camera might make someone think twice. I have one at my front door it runs for about a year on 3 d cells and is 140 lumens Sent from my Pixel 2 using Lake Ontario United mobile app
  3. Probably from a hook wound as a little guy Sent from my Pixel 2 using Lake Ontario United mobile app
  4. We have been fortunate this year that the temp and fish have not gone deep like they usually do. You may have a nice wide boat which def. helps but that spread might cause problems if you fishing them all below 100ft. or as far as 150ft of cable or more if the temp goes really deep. I have a smaller boat now but when I ran a 4 rigger spread on a bigger boat deeper than 75 ft it was flashers on the outside spoons on the inside and I didn't send an outside flasher past the nearest inside spoon rigger without popping the spoon of the inside rigger first. The currents can create havoc with deep lines. I picked apart too many balls of fuzz. I started going by those rules and it generally works.
  5. This is what I do running solo. With a dipsy I didn't catch crap until I ran a long lead. I wouldn't cut it down. I ran minimum 9' lead with straight DD regardless of what was on it.
  6. I do the same. Minn Kota Terrova 72" shaft with Ipilot. I use it as autopilot and main motor as primary thrust keeping it pointed straight. It works great in up to 2'ers or slightly better. Main motor is a 115 yamaha. I installed the VTS switch so I can adjust speed in 50 rpm intervals up to a certain point. Above that point I can still adjust with the main throttle and some more out of the trolling motor. Aside from the autopilot it allows me to use it as a straight trolling motor if I'm not deep water trolling.
  7. Had the same issue at the Mexico Fastrac last week. Had to drive to Pulaski
  8. too rough depends on your boat size and how far out you are going. Find a Noaa weather bouy closest to where you fish and check it before you get up.
  9. Well if all 10 took fish I would think its OK . Actually guys tend to run less rods than years ago. Less can be more as far as gear in the water spooking fish and also avoiding tangles etc. I run an 18' boat and I'm a 4 rod max for salmon (for me). Of that its a mix of spoons, flasher /fly and baits with max 2 baits. I feel I do just as well if not better than with more rods. certainly less tangles and chaos with a fish on.
  10. I think the worst is past. I was out of Mexico the past 3 days. I had nearly zero fleas. I do run 30# flea flicker but I didn't have noticeable buildup on the downrigger wire which had been a problem the week before. I'm guessing the worst might be when they first hatch....but I'm guessing on that.
  11. Did they make them so they can fit Rhys davis heads? 3 or 4 years ago I tried the N&D and not only paid $12 but had to perform surgery to make them fit.
  12. Bought one to try but @ $7 each a) I hope they work and b) I hope they last....they seemed kind of soft.
  13. Has anyone tried this stuff. I may put it on my flea flicker to see if it helps. I use it for spinning real line in light weight casting situations. It seems to make the line slick.
  14. Nope...30# flea flicker worked fine for me this past weekend. I got Lucky and got my hands on a 2500 yd spool before it was gone. Im gonna cry when i run out.
  15. I'm on the east end, but find this facinating. I'm interested in ports to the west and curious. Why does anyone even bother here if its so damage prone? Its one thing to have it be difficult due to sand blowing in via wind / current direction but having steel, concrete etc in the perceived channel or even just slightly outside is just bonkers. Especially if a dredge is making it harder to keep to the desired perfect line. Yet people still use it. Does this location provide access unattainable from east / west directions? A few extra miles on the land or water even would seem worth it to avoid such a known difficulty.
  16. Its not good for it to spin at high speed for long periods of time (hours of driving). I use rubber bands when trailering distance but don't even know why I care. My top speed is off by at least 30-40% from GPS, always was. Reality is I only have the fish hawk for the down speed & temp which work fine so even if the paddlewheel came flying off it wouldn't bother me.
  17. I would think having a solo category wouldn't be too bad to sort out. I would agree on 1,2,3,4 being a bit much though. Get a few solo guys to meet each other at events and next thing you know you have some teams of 2 or 3.
  18. When you need 9 it shoots down the smaller boats that might fish 2 guys. As things have evolved even though I've fished the lake for a long time I fish solo or with 1 nearly all of the time. I'd be into the competition, but it tends to require bigger and more than I have. I use to fish in a bigger boat for a long time, but the smaller boats are more economical and fish "larger" than years ago so thats where I'm at. A solo category would be super interesting to me. Won't ever happen but dare to dream.
  19. You can try Woody's tackle in Port Ontario just a few miles from Pulaski toward the lake. If you walk in the door....immediately on the left along the window are some Cannon parts. You might get lucky.
  20. too many issues. I wouldn't use that channel if you paid me.
  21. Pay the money for good swivels for ANYTHING that rotates. Trust me, cheap out and some day you will loose a fish you will regret forever.
  22. Not a bad day out of Mexico. A couple small browns a Laker and a decent spring king. The water was chalky green out to 100 ft......like the old days
  23. Amish outfitters 18". I have 2. for an 18' boat with a 115. I only use them for lakers. I usually only need 1
