  1. Nice pike. Gotta love the occasional surprise catch on the big lake.
  2. great pics,,,,I think I could talk my wife into a fishing trip like that ; )
  3. I was thinking the same thing, but I like the guys commitment. He would not be denied.
  4. I got a 10lb brown this year and that thing looks like he ate it : )
  5. sounds like you had luck on your side. 27 hits and you didn't end up drifting halfway accross the lake after running out of gas. You musta built up some good karma : )
  6. I've heard the river in oswego is still slow, but people are getting them off mexico. The Salmon river has definately been red hot, but there was just a big run so it's gonna be different day to day. good luck,,,they've gotta be staging off oswego soon
  7. http://merkywaterfishing.com/ I always go out with Chris Merk. He's a great guy and has always put me on fish. I do more steelhead fishing with Chris, but he's a great guy and a great guide.
  8. sweet, that musta been a blast. I bet she almost yanked the rod out of your hands
  9. I like what we've got too. The lakers are certainly down, but the browns and steelies are gettting better. The lake will always go through cycles. and there is no way they will do anything to damage the salmon fishery. It makes too much money and in this economy that means something
  10. bow bow bow I've caught some bows with big ole hook jaws.
  11. Took a mini midweek vacation to otisco this week. We were blessed with fantastic weather and good fishing. I spent a lot of time panfishing with the kids, but I did manage to sneak away early in the morning 2 of the days to see if I could get into some decent fish. Did most of my damage between 25 and 50 fow. I got bites on the pumkinseed tube, a black booyah jig w/ a craw trailer and a rattletrap. I was fishing in a canoe, so I would pull around the rattletrap going from point a to point b, then fish the jig or tube drifting back. I probably ended up getting 10 smallies between a pound and a half up to about four and a half. I didn't bring my scale, but a couple of the bigger fish were definately pushing 4. I also caught a 15 in brown trout on a smithwick rogue. heres a pic of the best smallie
  12. I practice responsible harvest. I only take what I'm going to eat that day or the next. I take what I would call good eating size fish and release the bigger ones. My family and I all enjoy eating fish, but we aren't trying to fill the freezer.
  13. Nice catch. I went out for stripers and blues in the sound out of city island this weekend. No stipers, but my buddies and I got about 30 blues. I nailed the biggest at 15lbs ; ) thanks for sharing the pics and report
  14. Nice fish, I'm going up to Otisco in a couple of weeks. I've been fishing it since I was a kid. I've got a few tigers, but nothing that big. Congrats on a great catch
  15. I'm planning a trip to venice at the end of sept. Any advice about species to target at that time? or a guide to take out. thanks
  16. I like to troll kwikfish a few cranks off the bottom. Once I locate a decent ammount of fish, I'll sit on um and jig or drop minnows on there head.
  17. Don't feel bad,,,, I got skunked for eyes in oswego too : ( but I was lucky enough to get a nice brown. The eyes seem to be hot and cold this year
  18. COOL VIDEO I've had some of my fishing videos on youtube shut down because of music. Oh well, that's life. thanks for sharing
  19. We got 3 between 9 and 12 lbs on friday of last week. There weren't a ton of fish there, but enough to keep our interest. We got um on kwikfish and one on a large shinner.
  20. I fished north of the newburgh beacon bridge today and got a little action. A couple of schoolies, no keepers. From talking to friends, it sounds like it's getting better
