  1. Not the owners fault at all. These guys were 100% in the wrong as far as I am concerned. Just that most farmers I know don't want hunters in their pastures with livestock.
  2. Also agree with chowder. Have to wonder why someone who knew their horses were out would let guys hunt that pasture, especially at night. I've hunted a lot of yotes at night and try to stay away from occupied pastures, just common sense to me.
  3. shorter leads for coho's/small fly, (12"-18") longer leads for salmon. (18"-30") I usually just swap flies off my 8" attractors for salmon.
  4. That motor still may work for you, you'd just have to rig something to engage it into gear, might be more trouble than it's worth. Something else to think about, the control king type throttle controls only work on 4 stroke engines, or at least that's how they use to be. If you want the kicker to charge batteries you also want to make sure it has an alternator, most with electric start do, most pull start only motors do not. My set up is like scobars and it works very well.
  5. Orange ones work well for coho with a peanut fly. White crush/mt dew with a hammer fly has put a few kings in my boat early in the season when the water is pretty cold and they don't want the bigger spinny's. Also seem to trigger strikes after the AM bite shuts down (long lead off riggers or off copper). Haven't had much luck running them off dipsy's.
  6. It would work for your throttle control but how would you engage into gear without controls?
  7. Removing snubbers from my divers increased my landing ratio. Also tightened rigger releases a little to help hook sets. IMO those 2 things caused me more trouble than the hooks.
  8. Agree with all the above. A couple of us were talking about LOU during one of the breaks and how some of the questions were recent "hot" topics on this site which Paul also mentioned. In addition to the class, we are very fortunate to have access to a site like this. Thanks Paul, Greg and Mark for a great class and thanks to all involved with this site.
  9. Thanks for putting on another great event guys. The larger room was a great improvement over last year. Also nice to see the growth over last year not only in the main marketplace but in the presentations. Very well done. We also managed to put a few more faces to LOU friends. Can't wait for spring to put the "new" tackle and techniques to the test!
  10. Whether Brady actually took the air out or not, he had to know the balls were not right, to me that makes him guilty. He should be suspended for at least 1 game.
  11. Sunrises and sunsets are my favorite things. Screaming drags are a bonus.
  12. Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year to all!
  13. You guys are confusing me....still trying to figure out if the cartoon character is smiling from this episode or if he's wearing BIG WEENIE underwear sporting the Morning Wood fly?
  14. Does also come back into heat after 28 days if not bred on the first cycle.
  15. I have to agree with all the above posts. I also admit to being sucked into a few of those "touchy" threads and allowing my sarcasm and opinions to show. Funny thing, how someone you've never met in person can "trigger" a response with a keyboard! Happy holidays to all.
  16. The 1st one you will never forget. Great job. A little butter and any mix of your favorite seasonings in a skillet work just fine. Just make sure not to over cook them....tenders are the best.
  17. Nice, glad to hear you went back after him, many guys would've givin' up on it.
  18. Another vote for the ugly sticks. I've been running the 9' and 8'3 1101's for a few years and am switching over to the 7's. Fished with some other guys this spring and really liked how easy their 7's were to rig. Also double as copper and lead core rods. They also handle big fish well for a light action rod.
  19. Agree 100%. Not sure why a charter would enter this division. For a few more bucks you could enter the short box and stand to win more money. I think you can enter the short box with only 1 other person and an observer. Only reason I can think of is if you could only fish one day of the event. Just go for it and enter an event. It is a lot of fun and you meet a lot of great people. It only takes 3 good fish to win or place and the rec division gives you flexibility. Its also fun to keep track of your catch and measure that against the rest of the fleet in the other divisions....you might be surprised at how you would've placed! Another option is to join LOTSA and fish that event. Its inexpensive and a lot of fun.
  20. Looks to be 3.5 to 4.5 yr old. Very nice buck either way. Congrats, and way to stick out the day...some of my best deer came between 12.30 and 1.30 in the afternoon, I think they get bumped when other guys head to lunch!
