  1. R&R tackle has been using UV paints before it was even cool to advertise it.
  2. put in a 5.7 litre. capt vince was selling a couple complete badass engines in the classified section.
  3. dunno hank. im sure hes the man. i also know of another "man". gagnons marine service in bridgeport ny. they only fix boats. they dont sell boats or provide marina services, they just fix em. they are the broken boat pros, they will not charge you for parts kits so you save money on parts, and they will knowledgably fix whats wrong and do it fast to save you money in labor costs. they just FIX boats, all boats. thats it.

    Gas???

the alchahol actually turns into water. its nasty stuff. looks like liquid corn. additives do what they say they do but have there own effects especially with prolonged use. water attacking additives dont work but k-100 does. prolonged use of k-100 will stain your boat with exhaust soot and you can smell it in the exhaust and it burns your eyes. that would get old after a day of trolling like that. dry gas is only a type of alchahol so it too will revert back to water after a length of time. water will rust and corrode and plug fuel systems wherever it sits even if the boat runs for a years, if your gas sits, youll have those problems. in order to use E10 in anything is use a fuel catalyst and circulate the contents of the fuel tank every 18-25 days. if your fuel sits for longer than that, water will form. maybe ethanol does not absorm moisture from the air but moisture condenses on the inside of the tank and rolls into the gas but the alchahol will bond with it. the petrolium gasoline wont, speeding the process of phase separation. there you have it, youve been warned. you do as you please with ethanol.
  5. road hunters in northern zone are rampant. trucks going slow for miles on back roads....c-mon. what you think is goin on? every single one should be pulled over and checked for a loaded gun! no loaded gun...have a nice day. loaded gun...please step out of the vehicle sir...your under arrest.

    Gas???

dump that sea foam right down your vacume brake booster hose with the engine running. 3/4 can. the other 1/4 can dump down into the gas tank. have somebody kill the engine as soon as the seafoam can is empty. let the engine sit for 5 mins then restart. its gunna start hard and you wanna see a smoke show. cleans all the carbon from your exhaust valves. youll get better compression and torque. for a boat right down the carburetor is fine. if you dont get a smoke show, you did it wrong(didnt dump fast enough). as for ethanol fuel with addatives, the additives can clog fuel filters and really they are not good. non ethanol only in boats. eventually you will have trouble. if you use ethanol fuel and additives, you will eventually notice discolored filters and fill spouts and deposits in the gas tank itself. to not use ethanol plus additives regulaly, only in a pinch. if you do run ethanol plus addatives and havnt had trouble, quickly run that tank till almost empty, add a spot of K100, then a full tank of 91 non E, run your engine. from then on, try to run only non E. ethanol wont hurt in your daily driver vehicle just a can of sea foam every 15 thousand miles and keep your tank full whene stored for over a week and you should have no problems there. additives on a regular basis are bad bad!! non E fuel will get you better milage in older vehicles though. ive seen alot of corn sitting in the bottom of fuel tanks lately, with or withought additives in boats. boats do not run on corn. period. addatives cannot turn corn into propellant.
  7. contingency plan...fish ladders in oswego river system leading upstream to onieda lake.
  8. those engines are bulletproof and easy to tune and maintain. i love those engines!! also those engines are a great platform for a performance build, either marine or automotive. the vortec heads are everything. the blocks are also equiped with steel cranks rated for 500 + horsepower. that is a great deal for brand new engines W/ velvet drives. just the long blocks would cost you 3000 each. ic you wanted them complete as vince has them with coolers and manifolds would cost you 7000 each.
  9. they are starting to poke around in the thick weeds in 10 fow. probe the weeds with live bait and a sinker. especially near rock points and creek mouths. i been doing the afternoon thing, they been turning on just after the sun goes behind the trees.
  10. kewl. thats good news...there comin. ever since i sold my salmon boat i been crackin out like tyrone biggums waitin to get out to the silvers.
  11. i broke bolth my heartlands. i stick to ugly sticks i dont have to pay for a rod twice. they last.
  12. my god that R&R paddle is a secret weapn in front of meat attatched by 70 inches of leader!!! that is the right color as well!!! rare, you wont see another one!
  13. old style bait heads work really really well if you know how to tune them, i think they outfish pretuned heads and whole bait rollers. i buy the whole baits from jons tackle in mexico and dice em up into the pennant shape then run em in the old heads. gotta know how to tune the roller head and also how much line to leave slack when you attach the hook to the bait. get it right and your stylin. many people dont use meat because they do just fine withought the mess. i dont blame them. i would do the same but i dont have as much luck as everyone else withough my meat. ive heard that you can catch salmon on just beads trolled on a hook...it'd prolly never happen on my boat.
  14. i use snubbers above the diver, that way waves dont release the divers and the drag can be tight enough to set the hook. if your line is breaking, 30 lb line is necessary for a leader to flasher. if your breaking 30 lb, your doing something wrong with your knots. im using 20 lb berkely vanish for a leader to flasher, never had a problem. i run just straight 14 lb cajun red on the downrigger rods. makes a 30 lber feel pretty big but still only been stripped 600 yds by a 31 lb angry mud marlin. its all about your drag and your knots, weather or not your landing fish and reusing tackle.
  15. If you are crossing lines you need to run less lines. Start with 1 and add from there understanding that 1 properly run line will catch more fish than 6 improperly run lines!! Keep the boat straight. Never run a MONO dipsy further than 200', it simply will not work -- as in go any significant amount deeper. Replace your mono with 50# power pro or 30# wire. Unless there is an upwelling going on you do not have to worry much about under currents, you do have to account for surface currents -- you do this by running 1 line (copper, thumper, ect) straight off the back of the boat -- keep changing direction (SLOWLY) untill you find a direction where that line (and all your lines) track straight behind the boat. Maintain that course, get your GPS sog at 2.5 - 3mph and watch your rods. Remember, Less Is More when it comes to running lines for kings in rough water. if you take this advise and change your mono on the dipsy divers to wire i garantee you will catch fish on lake ontario.
  16. i believe that is a a rule that is company wide. the federal NICS laws are the same no matter where you buy your gun. more than likely a mom and pop shop could have sold you the gun. the background check is the same. companys dont want to chase you down out of state if your credit card malfunctions or check doesnt clear. the background check and NICS form is federal country wide. none the less, there is enough dumb gun laws here to make me feel like my freedoms are compromised.
  17. its pretty easy to find mercruiser parts used. also Teds Electric Co. rebuilds MARINE starters and alternators and carbeuretors for a little over 100 bucks each and does a great job. ive found a few ways to bend the "break out another thousand" rule. knowing what your doing, and doing your own labor saves a bundle.
  18. if you are using the ss-109 projectile (62 grain fmj boat tail) loaded milspec, shooting them in a (1 turn for 12 inches traveled) twist rate barrel is very lethal on game. ittle blast out the shoulder blade and keep right on truckin draggin lungs and guts right along with it. the projectile is too long and will not stabilize at that rate of twist and swings around violently(yawl). it makes a nasty hole. shoot the same 62 grain boat tail 556 milspec through its designated twist rate, (1 spin for 9 inches traveled) same shot placement, and you get a running dead deer with a pinhole poked in em. if you have to use a 223 or 556 theres ways to improve...nosler makes a 60 grain partition projectile, winchester makes a 64 grain standard load with large game in mind, but none compare to the M-16A1(1-12 twist)using a ss109 projectile. i would limit myself to head and carefull neck shots if using normal factory loads and or varmint bullets.
  19. spoons behind flashers is a great ideah. works on all species of trout and salmon in lake ontario.
  20. stack one rigger with 2 rods and run one other deep rigger neer the bottom and use a copper line down the middle, just make sure you clear it out quick when the releases start comin. if they never start firing off, the copper with usually give you your bonus fish for the day or the only fish for the day. copper is a must have.
  21. i think they DO grab the flashers and dipsies once in a while. also snubbers helped my hookup ratio. everybody seems to have different opinions and stratagies that work for them. you may have to experiment. to boat 6 kings out of 11 hookups is about regular numbers for my boat for half day in august. usually about 50 percent hookup ratio give or take depending on mine and the fish's mood...thats using stupid sharp hooks and keeping my drag just tight enough so that 14lb test line doesnt break. dipsies get bored sometimes and just decide to go for a quick ride i think. it can be frustrating. if you are having alot of short bites use a stinger hook or troll faster. more often then not, trout and salmon commit to your bait if they have to chase it. so if they are looking and short striking, try speeding up. if they stop looking and chasing then slow back down and change baits or colors. as well, single hooks work better for me over trebles. the fish i do land with trebles are usually bleeding all over and would have gotten off if they werent triple gaff'ed
  22. st lawrence river is tough but the walleyes are there and they are huge! clayton has some around just east of the town docks and ive been told ogdensburg has the big ones in spring.
  23. make sure you practice ethical club and release
