  2. fished sat from 7:30 to noon, with my sister and brother in law and their little grandson, picked up three steelhead and a pretty good laker. Picked up a little before noon as the lake picked up a bit and the little guy didn't care to much for the rougher conditions. Steelhead all came on stick baits flat lined off the small boards with 5/8 oz weights added. Laker came on mountain dew spindoctor and blue hammer fly 121' back on a dipsy 2 setting. Sunday never moved a rod
  3. I tried it last fall, uses a fixed cheater about 8' about a flasher/fly combo using a fly the same as the one with the flasher, worked a couple of times but I didn't do it enough to see if it was more hookups on the cheated fly or the bottom one.
  4. anybody seen these? have been looking for one for a while. Saw this one on a friends boat and he thought he bought from Amish Outfitters a few years ago, but I can't find it. It works awesome and hangs out of the way.
  5. I'll give my vote for a thumper rod also, used one for years and caught a good bunch of fish on it also, and when you do get a down speed devise, you can use the thumper rod for a back up dipsy rod! Definitely watch Ernie's video on how to read it!
  6. I have fish Mexico Bay just about every weekend for the last 15yrs from April to October and things can be a little different every year. This year with the colder water temps things could be a little later than normal but by mid July we should be finding kings. Keep reading this site and guy's will let you know where they are finding them and what is hot when it gets closer.
  7. I have caught a good share of kings with a wonderbread dipsy and wonderbread spoon!
  8. Used them years ago on Kueka with my father in law (seth green rigs) hated them then and still ! Berts are the only way to go IMHO!
  9. Don't be afraid of playing with your speeds, sometimes 1.8 to 2.0 is best and other times 2.5 to 2.8 is better, also zig-zag back and forth and see with side is catching the most fish on the turn. Agree with the downspeed before I bought a 4x I would have never run 4.0 on the GPS but like stated above sometimes that's what is needed to get the right speed at the lures. Currents in LO are crazy!
  10. Fished in Olcott memorial weekend, went east out of the chute went 22 for 32 in two days with all kings but 2 steelhead. Mostly flasher/fly bite (yellow mountain dew SD with blue hammered fly) was the hottest. Fish 140 to 180 FOW 40' to 60' on the riggers and 170 back on the dipsy 2 setting. and 300 coppers all took fish. Best King 29# stayed between the tower and the plant back and forth. east troll was better.
  11. Used to catch a bunch of them in the bay at Fairhaven when the lake was to rough to get out, but never anything like that
  12. Check out Rick's website he does a good job of explaining the slider options and how to rig them! http://dreamscometruecharters.com/
  13. WTF = What's This Fish? Just Kidding
  14. We fished 140-200 FOW 40'-70' on riggers, 170-180' back on dipsy's (2 setting) and 300 coppers all took fish. Had to run slower than normal 1.8 to 2.0 was the best. Can wait to go back next spring, was nothing like we expected unbelievable catching a 29# spring king! If it wasn't such a haul would go back again this year!
  15. Nice Job Fish Hunter, we fished out of Olcott Sat and Sunday boated 22 of 32 all kings but two steelhead. Biggest was 29# with a few others in the 20's. Same program as out east Mnt Dew spin doctor with a hammer fly took a good share of the hits with most of the hits coming on the east troll. Was definitely a great weekend!
  16. Forgot to also thank Capt. Vince Pierleoni for renting us his cottage for the weekend! Many Thanks Vince great place to stay! Was a pleasure getting to meet you, and look forward to our next trip out west !
  17. Good Friends, Good Weather and Great Fishing! Had the best time ever! Many thanks to Salmon Addict and the Mrs, along with Mr and Mrs Blue Devil for a great weekend of Fun! I will go again next year in a heart beat
  18. I always used black or clear, a couple years ago my kid bought me a wonder bread dipsy and I seem to catch just as many fish on that one as every do on the others so I keep using it
