  2. I used power pro super slick for years which works well for me in 20 lb test. I switched to suffix 832 on a couple reels to try it and like it in 20 lb . Then I do a small spro swivel with flour leader 10-15 pounds depends on what I'm doing. I mostly jig with this for different species but like this set up. I only put about 2 -3 feet of leader on and don't reel up the swivel to the tip to either ruin the tip or to keep smashing the knot with the tip every cast. I like having the flour leader due to most of my walleye fishing is in rock river type situation. If I'm trolling whether with a spin set up or baitcaster I just increase leader to rod length and use a three way or snap weight. Hope this helps. 4. The only people that never have anything go wrong are the people not fishing. Figuring it out is what makes it sweet when it comes together. Nice job. And good job to your son keeping things buttoned up on both of your reports when it was his turn to shine, teamwork makes the dream work. 5. Steel wire is for dipsey, copper for long lines like above stated. Some guys use braid for dipseys as well. The steel and the braid are thin and cut the water to get deep and doesnt have stretch that helps when a fish hits or you pop the rod to pop the dipsey to reel in . 8. I have the helix 9 mega scan and Minn kota I pilot link . I am happy with the fish finder. Easy to use and has more things it can do than I'm capable of ,I'm a dumb dumb when it comes to tech stuff. Di and side scan not necessary salmon trolling but great for other things you may do. If your into seeing multiple different screens at one time ,the bigger the screen the better as they get a little small when you go beyond split screen. I bought it last year and was in the same position as you and also asked opinions on this forum with a broad spectrum of answers. It did help when I you tuned a bunch and then went to stores where they had displays to feel each one out and see for myself screen sizes buttons to push etc. You may get the Ford Chevy argument going , but I have been happy with mine. It's over your budget but a smaller screen gets you closer in your price range. I ended up increasing my price range and waited on getting the extra money but that's just me. Nothing is ever cheaper in price than you think it is. Imho Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-J327A using Lake Ontario United mobile app

  17. Yes , butter beans. And while I was cooking up breaded walleye ,and my wife was cooking the sides ( I don't like butter beans) I was smoking some walleye. In the picture is the empty plate that had the butter beans and walleye. While I was chowing down I could watch the smoker billowing with smoke licking the brined precious fillets to a golden brown ,finish off with a brush ofmaple syrup just before they were done. And here they are. Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-J327A using Lake Ontario United mobile app

  22. I see your point. I was in discussion with a buddy about this which why I started this post. He thinks you would be ok. I tend to think it would be a problem. And if you could prove you were in both countries etc. You would be in front of a judge trying to convince him.lol Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-J327A using Lake Ontario United mobile app

  24. Believe me I'm not looking to get in a legal fight or fill the boat with fish. Walleye on st Lawrence for example ,US has 3 limit ,Canada has 4 if you have the correct license. But if I went back to dock with the 4 fish even showing both licenses I think I should be good. And yes the GPS tracker would be a help in case of issues I agree.
