  1. Maybe you can reel 150 ft of 30# over the braid with Albright knot . Then a 25 tippet of 20 Flouro to the spoon or straight 30# to a flasher . 30# braid is strong enough but will catch a lot of fleas if they are bad . You will just have to check and clean them often . Good luck
  2. First wire diver I had was 300 ft of 30# wire ,backed up with an Albright knot to 100 yards of 65# power pro braid and then 20# mono to fill the spool. Caught a ton of fish on it with 0 problems . But I trust my knots . I feel there is more chance the wire breaks because of a kink you don't see than the knot breaking .
  3. Is anyone sitting on it ?

I think the high water the last few years has had an impact . We have had stellar fishing the past few years Coincidence ?
  5. It's coming Stay tuned
  6. I'm with Rolmops There was a very distinct temp break yesterday . Only had to move it a few feet to drop 10 deg .
  7. Took two of my friends out this morning Not much of a picture and temp was, shallow at 55 ft . Worked out way our to 225 Best was 180 We were 3 for 5 . Biggest was 21# and lost another good one . Watermelon Mag was best Tough bite today for us .
  8. And what difference does it make if your rigger counter reads 80 and the real depth is 72 . If you get hit when you rigger says 80 then you can adjust everything to that . The depth is relative More info than you need IMO . But somebody of you guys have to have the latest and greatest I guess
  9. I heard or read that they are going to dredge the Sandy creek channel . Anyone know when ?
  10. I go thru this when I go to the ADKs There is a steward at every launch checking boats . So after I take my aluminum small boat out , I acid wash it , keep the plug in and put about 30 gal of water in with some bleach and go back and forth in my driveway and slam on the brakes to swish It around . Then rinse good I tell the steward what I do and they say " good job " .
  11. Not to many years back , Orleans County pulled in the least tourist money than any other county in the state , according to a local paper The fishing is the biggest attraction as I see it . So what do they do , they cancel the marque event of the year .. We just got done with the summer LOC . So what's the problem ?
  12. Great job You were into 3 kings I would not call that a slow day . Especially fishing mid day .
  13. I just look at the website It says it is, cancelled due to Covid Well that SUCKS !
  14. I fished this lake a lot since they put the first put the fish in with only surface speed/ temp and feel I did pretty well 2 years ago my son talked me into a fish hawk . Amazes me the under currents out there and how I am constantly adjusting to them . I have talked 2 different guys in to getting one this year . Buy the fish hawk , you won't regret it .
  15. I have been running my rigs from 1.9 to 2.4 all of July for the best results . Also last year . The bigger Kings seem to be lazy. I have gotten double up when I hook a screamer and slow down or take boat out of gear and another rod goes off . This has happened more than you might think .
  16. First light to rough seas Went out to 90 Temp came way up last night 47 at 50 ft So we worked our way west and out . Not a good screen at all but temp went deeper as we went out Anyway after taking a few over the the bow while trolling into it and dropping 2 fish I turn it to go with it back to the creek and call it a Derby . Rod goes off 55 down , nice mature about 18 20 min later Double , down 62 and dipsy at 170 dropped the dipsy and landed rigger fish looked like twin to the first one . We were 2 for maybe 7 releases . Ran 4 flashers today . Snotty out there . So much for 1 ft waves forecasted .
  17. We fished Sandy this morning and boated 7 for about 12 with 5 majors up to 22 6 110 to 150 65 to 85 down 180 on dipsey which were best . All we ran were flashers trailing ,dare I say it ? Temp was down 80 to start and came up to 60 .
  18. I fished Sandy and we had a hard time trolling west and getting our down speed to where we like it . East we had to speed up . All I can tell you is turn And zig zag a lot if you don't have down speed and your lure will be going the right speed some of the time And note direction of troll on release Our dipseys were best today .
  19. 110 to 140 70 to 90 We fished till 630 Went 3 for 4 all good kings .
  20. We went out at 330 We have 2 ,matures so far Flashers Laying down flat
  21. A friend of mine said his buddy was getting them around Hedgges in 15 to 20 ft of water and did pretty well .
  22. For supposedly not being a good idea to fish alone , I sure see a lot of guys , including myself doing it . I don't see 2 guys being really any safer than 1 . Some guys My wife or children we bring are not going to be a whole lot of help in an emergency . As far,as a witness , they give lie detectors if needed . I sure wish they would allow this . I would be out there all the time . Would sell my boat , buy like a 19 ft center console T top and set it up to the max . Still going to try and run a one man out of Sandy this fall . Low key cheap , see how it goes .
  23. This time of year to start I put out 3 flasher set ups and 1 spoon . I run a 2 rigger 2 dipsy set up and target kings . You will know pretty quick if you are getting marks weather they want the flashers or not . After about an hr or so if I don't get hit or they just hit the spoon I take one flasher of a rigger and stack 2 spoons 20 ft apart and set them 10 ft above and 10 ft below the other rigger with the flasher . I put my flasher on my probe rigger and keep it at 48 to 50 deg . But I always leave at least 1 flasher out somewhere. This has worked well for me .
  24. Coyote K twisted my arm to go out this morning and I reluctantly agreed . We did the Tag team again And what a morning it was . The Gary D rig behind a 11" hot spot Martha Stewart and Binwadin color ( white ) . Boat 7 majors with the biggest 25 7 And some smaller also . About 20 hits. Bite was so good I ran only 2 rods which kept us bust enough . 9o to 140 was working 70 to 85 down . Off the water by 9 2.1 was best speed with biggest taken while boat was in neutral fighting a fish and downrigger was like jigging the lure . .
