Will be fishing the tournament at the Oak this weekend. If anyone wants whole, cold fish and can come get them late afternoons Friday through Sunday shoot me a PM.

Easy now. Don't give them away before you catch them.

Well just in case then lol.
240 pounds last Friday and Sunday. Saturday was a blow off day. Both days boxed by 9:30 am, 12 fish boxes.
Be nice to see folks that want them, get them. Tons of tournament folks would be happy to give them away.

That is always the bad part of these tournaments. Hundreds of fish are caught and brought to the scales but after the weigh in all these fish  which during non tournament fishing often would be released are now just being thrown out. For me it is a reason not to participate in tournaments anymore. Besides I never do very well in these tournaments which is another reason I stopped with tournaments.

The organizers of these tournaments should look in into donating the catch much like deer meat is donated.

There are a lot of guys that show up just to take all the fish guys are willing to give away.  One guy showed up at a tournament with a pickup truck and loaded the bed with trout and salmon on ice.  My crew splits up what we want and finds people ahead of time like Bill is doing to take the rest.

Exactly. Our fish don’t go to waste. Obviously Mops misses the whole reason for my post.

No I did not miss the reason for your post. I even gave it a little heart. I was merely commiserating about food going to waste and pointing out that tournament organizers do not take this into account.

Your post shows to me that we are on the same wavelength where it comes to wasting good food.

And Gambler, I remember that pickup truck being loaded. It was in Wilson during the tournament where almost everybody boxed out before 10 in the morning. I remembere wondering if the guy was going to use it as fertilizer or whether he was a sushi restaurant owner. He must have had four or five hundred pounds of fish in that pickup. That truck must have stunk ever after. That was after the winter that was no winter and the fishing that spring was absolutely fabulous.
