Are Salmon safe to eat now?

Did anyone get back to you on this topic?

I noticed that July / August salmon is nice and pinkish –red, just like you would get at Wegman’s. September – October salmon is white, not as “juicy†and fat. It tastes dry and not as flavorful. It is good for smoking. I don’t see any health concerns, but I’m not a doctor.

Once in a while you may get a nice pink salmon in September.

Do you agree?

Is there a way to say how fish will be by just looking at it?

When they lose the pinkish-red color it's because they are lacking Nutrition from not eating but are still good to eat and when they start to run up river most people like to smoke them

Yep - they pick up a chemical (something word like Carotene?) from their diet and lose it when they stop feeding.

* Found it - "Wild salmon become pink by eating sea creatures like krill, which contain a carotenoid called astaxanthin"

yes! they hav shut down for about 2 to 3 weeks,the strong fishy taste from what they ate has been flushed from system. And ya have the natural flavor of the salmon now...BUT YOU CANT CATCH A FISH AT 6AM KEEP IT DEAD IN 70 DEG WATER AND SUN THEN DRAG IT THROUGH THE MUD AND HAVE A GOOD MEAL KINDA THE OPPISITE.............

If you bleed it and put it to a cooler of ice ASAP..and clean proper, you will be surprised at the quality of taste....the 10lbrs are still the fish to target also....
