  3. A little history: In 2022, the Jefferson mapped over 300 Sq miles of the now Lake Ontario National Marine Sanctuary. This included the deep spot and a few ship wrecks. They explored the Lady Washington which went down in 1803 off Oswego. They also found some unknown lake features in both Lakes Erie and Ontario. Some Tidbits: It carries a couple uncrewed drone boats and can sample the bottom from depths of 10 to 4,000 m with remote operated vehicles. They've got some great weather for exploration, and I think sightseers (like "Compromise" and "Meritage) should stay away from them as they have plenty of other things to work on/worry about.

  5. Might be making a trip to Mexico bay Monday to try for some salmon, browns, or whatever will hit. Wondering if it is worth the two hour trip. I appreciate any reports. Will be launching out of the state park if I make the trip. Thanks and tight lines.
  6. Looking for opinions on a good fish finder and temp unit for my new to me boat. Its a 29ft baha fisherman. I don't need a super expensive top of the line fish finder just something accurate with a good size screen and GPS. What do you guys use? Also, I have always used the fish hawks, I just read about the new scotty temp and speed units. Are they worth the extra money?
  7. Wind forecast wrong again today. 2-4’ tight together Lake Erie waves. Nice night to be out otherwise
  8. Couldn’t find browns this morning but kings are still around. I’m sure browns are too. I only looked for an hour.
  9. Well that ain't great Caught some row boat bass tonight and they were cold
  10. Yesterday
  11. Had 59 on the surface in 40 this morning. 54 on the bottom.
  12. I agree with you 100% . That's why I asked as I haven't been out for a while .
  13. I'm not sure this will help, but it may. I don't think the weather has been warm enough or long enough to cause the thermocline to have set up yet. But you must understand this is just my opinion. But you should get a confirmation from others that knows for sure.
  14. Lots 8, 10, 11, 12 Sold pending payment
  15. First trip of the year! Thought the weather was going to be ok based on Wavefinder, it didnt go as planned and i suspect the storms overnight made it tough. Anyway maybe 8 boats straight out so i went east with the waves. Started at 100 on a northeast troll, no bait or fish to speak of, check temps and water was warm right down to 90 feet. Hooked a big laker 95 down over 147. Went out to 200 and circled back because waves were starting to rrally rock. Then the fog rolled in and i was thrilled to find the lighthouse. Saw very little bait and only a few fish marks. Lots of debris and a scum line at about 150. I ran a mix of about everything so it all sucked Good luck

  16. I have a number in my phone for Nathan, who was at Sovereign Downriggers when they Bought out PROOS. No idea if it is still active. 616-828-4102
  17. Thanks for your response. I just received 5 Steely 5s. I'm excited to try them but was concerned that they come with a size 2 treble hook. I was curious if these would be strong enough to handle a big king? Thanks.
  18. This is really cool! I hope we get to see the results soon. (This morning's viewing) Couple passes in close between IBay & Sodus then out deep for multiple passes then back in, but this time west of the path out. Two smaller survey boats (roughly 40 ft) today. Both made multiple passes in close. Then paths disappear but returns from out deep reappear. Guessing they're in 60-100FOW. It's really good to actually see Federal money doing more beneficial projects for us. (I.E. Prey fish assessment, Lamprey Control, Guardian analysis projects)
  19. Still as good as new. $350 shipped
  20. Launched at 8AM, Out at 6PM. Headed out and set up in 100' w/ 4 downrigger rods and 2 Dipsey Divers back 250 trolling a mix of spoons, flies, flashers and Spin Dr's. Mix of sun and clouds, steady 10 knot winds from the W and 1' waves. I was fishing with a rookie. While I set up, rookie steered. It didn't go well. Got us all tangled up. 3 times. I abandoned the Dipsey program and ran a tight 4 rod rigger program. Best screens were btwn 130 - 160 range. Lots of bait and pods of fish. But they weren't biting. Rookie managed a 7 lbs Brown and I a 13" Salmon in there before trolling deeper across blank screens to 200ish. Picked up to 300 and set up to more blank screens. Back into where we caught fish and screens were loaded. Temps 52 @100/150.

  21. And I looked at my Walker and the counter and pulley it looks the same. But I don't think the springs are the same .
  22. I might have a counter . Persistence on here that you pass on the way to the lake knows where to get springs on line . But I may not have the rubber that goes on the counter . Let me look . I bought a bunch of proof downriggers from a guy on here
  23. Last week
  24. Just figured I'd put it out there. One of the manual Proos on my Lund needs a new depth counter assembly with spring. I've heard that I may be able to retrofit a Walkers or Big Jon assembly, but before spending the $ to find out it isn't really compatible, let's try this. Thanks!
  25. Still available?
  26. I just had exactly this happen when I said I was looking for interline rods. A person gkgstorageinc said to contact [email protected]. " I haven't seen him on here for couple of days. You can reach him via email- [email protected] ,he has a few of them, plus he's a dealer...straight up Great Guy!!" I had taken the bait, and was making a run, deep under the boat. He asked for a shipping address, which I sent. He quoted $65 a rod, including shipping by UPS. That was the first red flag: UPS does not ship to a PO Box, and is prohibitive to ship where I live. I asked how to pay, and Micropedes45 said he accepted Venmo. When I went to the Venmo payment, it was a woman's Venmo.... "my wife's account" he replied. Ok, I thought. I entered the dollar amount into Venmo for the rods, and when Venmo asked me for the phone number for confirmation, I asked for Micropedes45 for the phone number. He said his wife had never heard of such a thing, and sent me a photo where I could click on "skip confiirmation" - which is located on the Venmo scree below the phone number confirmation request (which, remember, he said he'd never heard of). I said sorry, can't send money without the confirmation, and he said ok, thanks, and that was that.
