  6. First time ever to Great Lakes. From Woods Hole Oceanographic Institute. A research vessel more accustomed to supporting science on the open ocean is embarking on a first-of-its-kind, 2,531-nautical-mile journey through the Great Lakes to help scientists investigate some of the universe's most elusive elementary particles. The Woods Hole Oceanographic Institution’s (WHOI) research vessel (R/V) Neil Armstrong departed its home port of Woods Hole, Massachusetts, on October 28 bound for Duluth, Minnesota, where it is expected to arrive around November 9. The 238-foot vessel will travel through a network of rivers, locks, and inland waterways on its 11-day journey to reach the far western end of Lake Superior, where it will support an effort to detect neutrinos in the lake’s natural water. The project, known as the Experimental Neutrino Detector (END), is led by the University of Minnesota Duluth (UMD) and sponsored by the Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency (DARPA), in cooperation with the US Department of Energy’s (DOE) Office of Science, Fermi National Accelerator Laboratory (Fermilab), and Brookhaven National Laboratory. Neutrinos are subatomic particles that rarely interact with matter, making them exceptionally difficult to detect. Scientists study them to understand fundamental properties of the universe, such as why it is made mostly of matter rather than antimatter. WHOI’s Mooring Operations and Engineering (MOE) Group led the design and assembly of five detector arrays that will support underwater sensors central to the research. Once in Duluth, Neil Armstrong and its crew will transport the equipment several miles offshore near Two Harbors, Minnesota, lower the frames onto the lakebed, and install fiber-optic cables connecting the detectors to shore. The frames, each approximately 30 feet tall and weighing about 8,000 pounds with mounted equipment, must be positioned with precision to support the experiment. This journey highlights the specialized role of the US Academic Research Fleet. Research vessels are more than transportation; they serve as floating laboratories, equipped with the people, technology, and operational capabilities needed to deploy scientific instruments, collect data, and sustain research in challenging environments. 7. Great job Brian!
  8. Yes 250 years is a great run and I hope that it will continue well into the future. As for the Gulags, now that's a bit dramatic , specially since a well educated man like you, knows very well that the only people sent to the Gulag are communists who disagree with other communists. Upstate, Is that everything above Westchester County Or everything north and west of Albany? As for the people who voted for pro- palestinias . They are a bunch of what palestinians call "useful Idiots". That comes from deeper within me than you may know. You see, I have dual US and Israeli citizenship and have served in the IDF. Friends of mine were killed in terror attacks, so do not call me pro palestinian or antisemitic. I hope that the democratic majority will not waist its time in office on impeachment games. They should spend it working on improving our future. The only one I really want to see replaced is the current secretary of defense ( who is completely out of his depth) by a very experienced gentleman of the caliber of a Robert M Gates or a Leon Panetta. (both served under Republican and Democratic administrations) no matter what political color he has. Now it has become time to take a deep breath and think of fixing up my boat for next year and maybe ask Chinook 35 for lessons in the science of transducers and such.

  10. Well guys , 250 years was a good run. Nothing lasts forever .. I said it a bunch of times on here . Upstate would sure make a good 51st state Hope I don't get sent to the Golag for all I've said . Let the **** show begin . How fast will the impeachments start ? We have elected officials wearing the flag of Palistine for their victory speechs . And Americans applaud this. It's shameful . The indoctrination from scumbag school and college administration has worked .
  11. I had a fun hunt Tuesday evening with Gator. We slipped into one of his properties after watching a ton of chasing in the morning on camera. I left work an hour early and arrived around 3:15. I got into a new hang on stand in the center of the property and could hear grunting and crashing all over to my South. 15 minutes into my sit, a doe came out onto the trail and headed away from me being trailed by two bucks. A minute later, here she comes in the brush from the West. She runs right by the stand and stops at 25 yds. A 9 point came crashing in and stopped quartering away at 22 yds. I shot him and he took off down the trail to the West. After I shot him, the buck parade started! I took multiple videos and pics of bucks strolling by. After 45 minutes of sitting, Keith came over and we tracked my buck 80 yds down the trail where he was lying dead right in the middle of the mowed trail.
  12. 100%. Something needs to change. These asshat politicians need to be held accountable to produce something. They have it easier than all the freeloaders that soak the system.
  13. Last week
  14. I fully agree with you although I have a bit of a problem with the idea that politicians work at all. It has always been my feeling that they make us work while they mostly talk and live of the fruits of our labor.
  15. Great buck!!!
  16. Your political knowledge ranks right down there with your understanding of how sonar works
  17. It's too bad you can't denounce Latricia James for not being neutral in an investigation she's biased right from the start
  18. Sir, I am located in Hamlin NY at the North end of Rt. 19 by the Lake Ontario Parkway. Next to Sandy Creek Marina.
  19. Meanwhile more communist antisemites that hate our country and way of life will be elected today. Great job America. we went from freedom for all to a bunch of sheep demanding free sh*t for all.
  20. Location?
  21. What unites us is politicians that work for the people. We don't have that anymore. We need term limits and people that care about the people and not getting rich.
  22. I’ll take it , shipping needed
  23. Bump for $200
  24. Fisherdude, I suggest that you spend your time looking for what unites us. You will find that it is a lot more than what divides us. You know that " E pluribus unum" stuff
  25. Last chance to advocate for attorney general Leticia James should be voted out of office for not excusing herself for the Facebook post she put up about the accusers of the Cornell College in Ithaca incident. Vote for Saritha komatireddy. I even hope comrade Rolmops would agree probably not though have a good voting day Everyone .
  26. Kathy sent 8 billion to NYC . That's really all you need to know about how things are going now . It was a bailout . To keep them solvent . That's the reality . Use to be upstate benefited from downstate but not anymore . Wealthy people and business are leaving the state . And Kathy is begging them to come back because she needs their money . And what will happen when Wall st relocates ? Which they have done partially . And all that taxable money leaves . There are more Gov employees in NY than there are in Moscow . Guess who pays them . As for me I think of myself as the king of England. My pronouns are ......... Better get out and vote before we are the first commie / socialists state . If we aren't already . Why is it that it's always the rich man's fault?
  27. Walleye fishing is still smoking hot off Dunkirk. Five colors, dipsys and riggers out around 100’ fow.
