  3. Welcome to the forum! Cheers!
  4. Thank you very much, pap!
  5. I say it depends on what you fish for. If you fish Blue gills, a camera is better IMO. I have learned more about the way fish react to the way you jig with the camera than I ever would with my flasher. For all other species, I tend to stick to the flasher.
  6. The fishing report below is made available from the Central New York Fishing Hotline for November 17 through December 1 at http://www.dec.ny.gov/outdoor/9218.html. Please visit that site for more information or to follow links. Reports will be harder to come by because many anglers have pulled their boats for the season, so there will likely be few changes to the report in the coming weeks. Oswego and Wayne Counties have weekly fishing hotlines on their web sites as well and would be another good option for fishing reports; Oswego County (visitoswegocounty.com); and Wayne County (waynecountytourism.com). Though Onondaga County doesn’t have a weekly fishing report, their web site is another good source of fishing information in the region (fishonondagacounty.com). A reminder that from Nov 1 to May 1, all persons aboard any pleasure vessel less than 21 feet long must wear a Personal Floatation Device (PFD) while underway. For more information on boating regulations please view the NYS Boater’s Guide. A link can be found in the righthand column under ‘Links Leaving DEC’s Website.’ Also, as a word of warning, many of the dock structures at the DEC boat launches will be removed shortly, or may have been removed already. So, please plan accordingly. April 1 was the start of the new Freshwater Fishing Regulation Guide, April 1, 2017-March 31, 2018. You can obtain a copy from a licensing agent or view it at Summary of Freshwater Fishing Regulations. Region 7: Cayuga Lake With the high water a few weeks ago, some Atlantic salmon and brown trout entered the tributaries. Some stealth will likely be required to catch them however, now that the streams are running clear and the flow has dropped. Lake trout are being caught 70 to 90 feet down over 100 to 200 feet of water. Skaneateles Lake Anglers fishing in 15 to 25 feet of water are getting a mixed bag of lake trout, rainbows and yellow perch. Visit the Cayuga County Tourism web page for more fun things to do on and around the water at www.tourcayuga.com!
  7. Nice job to everyone on there deer! I have been hunting a select few and been unsuccessful to say the least. Pretty sure I had a 140ish 10 at 80 on Saturday but couldn't see his head. If it had a mane it could have been in the derby though. There's always tomorrow I guess. Good luck to all with tags in hand!! Sent from my iPhone using Lake Ontario United

  18. This year's event is going to be nothing short of amazing! The prize structure is unreal and packed with hubs and shanties, electronics, new gear, etc. Be the first angler to sign-up at any shop and score a free ice combo, anglers 2-? will also receive a bonus gear item! With shelters (or other large ticket item) raffles at every weigh-in location (60+ locations), anglers can score entries from the following: 1) enter at the shop 2) stop in during the event (gain an entry every day you stop in) 3) Fulfill the in-store promotions (inquire at the shops) **General rule: one entry per angler per location per day, plus additional entrees per day based on store promotions. Anglers that register online will be entered into two drawings: 1) The first 100 anglers go into a drawing for a shelter. 2) All online entrants go into a drawing for a power auger. The full prize structure will be released around December 1st as we introduce a sponsor per day and their sponsorship! Stay tuned!!

  22. They have had skim ice in the north country for the past two weeks, but nothing to fish on yet. They will be on soon - maybe as soon as the end of next week. It'll be a while before we see any safe ice down this way...But I have faith for a good ice season!!
