  2. Welcome aboard Ken. (That's a walleye, not a pickerel...nice fish) Tom B. (LongLine)
  3. Welcome Paul. Plenty of things with gills & fins on Big-O. Don't worry about the wifey-money thing....just hide the receipts, buy her some flowers, trade her in for a bigger boat . (hope mine doesn't see what I just wrote... ) Tom B. (LongLine) p.s. just playing with the wifey thing
  4. Welcome Jason. Looks like you're all ready to "haul" some kings onboard. Please let us know how it's going in the NW. Tom B. (LongLine)
  5. Welcome aboard Dennis. You'll definitely have experiences on Big-O. Gheck out the threads and Good Luck. Tom B. (LongLine)
  6. Penn has a GT-321 that is the left handed version of the GT-320. (like $220 at Cambell's) I use 320's & think they're great. Tom B. (LongLine)
  7. FB7 – Go to a site like this for your area and find the nearshore temp: (bottom of page) http://weather.noaa.gov/cgi-bin/fmtbltn ... loz043.txt Then go to this site and click on the different times shown (backward) to get an idea what is happening. Also go to forecasts & check out what they think is going to be happening. http://www.glerl.noaa.gov/res/glcfs/glc ... pe=N&hr=00 It’s usually not a matter of the lake flipping but rather local upwellings Tom B. 8. Watch what/who you're grabing there matey, arggh Tom B. (LongLine) That was great Ray
  9. WTG Jack. Love the solo stuff. Tom B. (LongLine)
  10. OT - Now that is a dream job. Do you actually get paid for doing that? (I'm jealous.) Taking the canal or the Seaway? Tom B. (LongLine)
  11. How come I can select up to 4 options? (...ooops) Tom B. (LongLine)
  12. Temp not important for stagging kings. For the non-matures, hang around the thermocline. Water currents stir the water. It's not uncommon to find all kinds of "goofy" temps. This time of year, water near shore will all be one temp from top to bottom. As you go out, you'll generally find an area where they go completely "goofy", then as you go out more, it stabilizes. 13. WTG Tank. That little guy looks tired out, but quite happy. Tom B. (LongLine)
  14. Hans - Must have been nice out there. Knew I should of gone out this weekend. Did you notice if the shakers were AD clipped? Tom B. (LongLine)
  15. Very nice. Did the shakers have clipped AD fins? Tom B. (LongLine)
  16. Bob - How true. Only problem is that the West side of the Genny is generally colder closer to shore than the East side. (currents) I think it'd be more helpful to get NOAA to move the E-W temp transect line much closer to the south shore rather than out in the middle of the lake. (It'd also be helpful if they calibrate the sensors cuz they say 52F is the coldest out there & we all know that's not true. Tom B. (LongLine)
  17. From Luhr-Jenson: Troll them faster than you would your spoons. Tom B. (LongLine)
  18. Really gets the heart throbbin out there solo & hitting them doesn't it. WTG Ted. Tom B. (LongLine)
  19. WTG Jam. Nice fish & looks like a beautiful day out there. Tom B. (LongLine)
  20. Disposal reg is 100 ft min of the shoreline for all fish. Fillet must have skin on it so proper ID can be made. The min length reg only applies to Black Bass, Brook Trout, Lake Trout & Atlantic Salmon. On these you must leave fish intact so that overall length of the fish can be determined. i.e can't cut head & tail off. (you can gut it or gill it but must leave intact) It was proposed at the last State of the Lake meeting by DEC that all carcass disposal be banned on the water. Didn't fly for this year but who knows about the next round. As for "it all goes back into the food chain"...don't get me started. Tom B. (LongLine)
  21. Chris, It should have brought them in temporarily. It's a local upwelling that we normally get a little earlier in the month. Strong westerlies should take it right back up. I'd expect down currents to be really wicked as the west winds are picking up with small craft warnings up for tomorrow. Sleeping in sounds like the best choice. Tom B. (LongLine)
  22. This one only had twins. A 350 pulling it. Took up the center two ramps, so many officers/police supervising the launch, highly polished s/s props & not a scratch on it so I'm guessing it was brand new. Tom B. (LongLine)
  23. Twice the cable to get to 60 ft? No that doesn't seem right at all. What was your surface speed and what kind of angle did the cable make with the water? With 15 Lbs, something is out of whack. If a mechanical counter on rigger, was it at zero at the surface? Did you put it in neutral to confirm where the weight was on you FF? Were the readings the same in another direction? Tom B. (LongLine)
  24. Flasher mostly flat with either aft-side fins or a single large bend about 2 1/2" from rear. Designed to revolve in a large circle. Much more speed tolerant than dodgers out of the package. Dodgers tend to spin about there axis when trolled to fast unless as you say, are tuned. Spin Doctors (SDs), which as somewhat fish shaped, are very popular now days. TomB. (LongLine)
  25. Congratulations. I can hear it now when he's 10 yrs old, as he hands a rod to you: "Here Dad, you take it, It's a little one." Tom B. (LongLine)
