  1. Out of Oswego 8/26/17 We launched from Wright's just before dawn on the "Down Time" 19' center console. Ran to 250 fow and set up with a bunch of other boats. Screen was blank all the way to 375 fow. Made a turn SE and headed toward the plant. Managed a 12# Coho off a dipsey back 300'. Beautiful fish! In 250 fow we took a small king from the same dipsey. After a long dry spell we kept trolling into 135 fow and had a mature King on a Sutton 88 down 130'. Finally, the 600 copper took off with a Stinger UV chicken wing as I flippped the reel clutch forward to engage the drag...awesome fight. Landed a 23 pounder. Last fish was a beautiful 14# Coho on a Wonder Bread magnum J plug down near the bottom over 137 fow. Finished the day with 5 fish. Hardly marked any fish or bait all day but we sure felt a few. Great day to be on the lake. Good luck to all for the rest of the season. Lou
  2. I love Fairhaven. Nice, quaint village with a friendly atmosphere. Thanks to the owner of Fair Point Marina for answering my questions during my visit there last weekend.
  3. Do you have a link to the controller you bought on eBay?
  4. Neither Pine Grove or Mexico Point are open to launch trailered boats. Closest open ramp is Wright's Landing.
  5. Fished today and caught a decent steelhead with 30 Alewifes in its stomach. What a greedy fish!
  6. 53 degrees, minimal debris that I encountered.
  7. Mexico Bay Today Very few boats in the bay today. Waves were 2-4 ft from the N-NE. Tough to troll the shoreline in the trough. Went 3 for 5 today...all Browns. No size to speak of. Caught all of them in 18-20 fow. NK 28s off 2 color lead core did most of the little damage there was to do.
  8. Replace ignition switch and check the solenoid by jumping it when you turn the key.
  9. I would like one. Please PM me so we can finish this transaction. Thank you. Lou
  10. As of yesterday Pine Grove is still open, but bring some TALL boots to launch.
  11. Launched out of Stoney Creek yesterday at 6AM. Turned left past the last channel marker. Trolled around Drowned Island. Nothing. Went north toward Stoney Point. Managed 5 Browns in the 7 -9 pound range, a 7 pound walleye, a whitefish and a Laker that was a solid 10 pounds. Turned around at Stoney Point Light. Overall a good day. Most fish came in 17-22 fow. Evil eyes did most of the damage. Good luck to all this weekend. Stoney Creek is super high now...wear waterproof boots to launch. No issues getting out to the lake from this boat launch.
  12. Just a tip to help you get the coated Cummings net onto the hoop. Spray the hoop with food grade silicone first. The net will go on much easier.
  13. Fished out of Oswego today. Went 5 for 9...all over 7 pounds. Smithwicks in firetiger and perch. Mooselook wobblers and a few other assorted sticks. All off planer boards. Green water east of the river, surface temp 45 degrees. Only 5 trailers in the parking lot at Wright's Landing. Fantastic start to the 2017 season for us!
  14. I'd second the vote for Oneida Lake to fish for walleye. Tony Buffa runs a charter based from the south shore if you want to hire a guide for the second day.
  15. How about we get back to your point Dr W. So far I'm not seeing any volunteers for the Coast Guard Auxiliary. I'm interested in hearing more. Could you PM me...maybe I can help. I fish out of Mexico Point 2 or so days a week. I can't believe your request got so far off topic and not one volunteer!
  16. You can find the 4' booms on eBay from time to time, however they don't sell cheap.
  17. I spent almost 4 days stripping old wallpaper and hanging new stuff to replace paper I hung about 12 years ago. Boy was that fun (NOT). I just keep thinking how fast May is coming.
  18. New in box SPX - 5 Raymarine pilot just listed on eBay: http://www.ebay.com/itm/201792605193?_trksid=p2055119.m1438.l2649&ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT If you have the dough!
  19. I have numerous J Plugs...$1 each. Willing to ship at cost.
  20. What make/model machine did you have these on?
  21. I'm almost 100% sure you have to register it in your state of residence using your home address. Just food for thought...what address would you use to register the boat here in NY? Mike's Marina address? Beth would love that...LOL.
  22. Fished my final trip of the season on the Horsin' Around yesterday. Started in 20 fow just south of the Salmon River. J Plugs, spoons, jointed Rapalas and FF were deployed. Took a good rip on a glo/black striped J plug off a slide diver back 100' and down 20. Didn't land that one. Next hit came on a small dipsey, double orange crush Stingray back 30'. Didn't get that one either. Last hit was off the 11' Downrigger back 70' on a mag Stinger Superman. Boated that one! Nice, but very dark colored fish around 28 lbs. All the action we had was in front of the Salmon River in 20 fow. GPS speed was 2.1 - 2.6 mph. I'm moving on to the next seasons...geese, ducks, walleye and DEER! Too many choices. Good Luck and Good Day!
  23. Please explain to me why the circle diameter technical data matters? Mag dipsey data down/out data matters. Look on Great Lakes Fisherman's website.
  24. I flocked about 4 doz geese heads this past winter. Purchased a kit from an eBay seller. They came out well. Stored them in decoy bags and put the heads in socks. PM me if you need more info.
