  1. I bet they still talk about those boat ornaments!
  2. My hope is, August is like it used to be for once! I don't have any camping plans in August and a ton of vacation time left in the bank!
  3. Last year made everyone feel like a hero. It was the easiest king fishing I have seen since I started fishing the lake in the early 80's. For the last 15 years or so, the fishing has been stellar on Lake Ontario. June transitions in the 90's were like this. If we caught one or two kings a day, it was a good day. Most didn't fish in June or they targeted lake trout only. So many didn't fish back then or can't remember!
  4. It's funny how the fishing is good and guys put up a report every time they go out. Fishing sucks and they don't report.
  5. I was impressed with them. I can't wait to use them on divers. No more tap tap gone! I think they will be killer on browns too. Talking to Calvin, Erie walleye guys have had great success with them with worm harnesses.
  6. Left the dock yesterday with Calvin Vanderboon from strike assist with a goal of getting him video footage of his strike assist product working with Cowbells and Gambler Rigs. What a tough morning on the lake! We fished lakers from 6am - 12:30 in 80-130' and only caught 8 lakers. After landing a laker, I asked Calvin if we had the capabilities of reviewing the camera footage on the water. He said yes, so we reviewed a small amount of video footage. The video footage revealed a bunch of dead and dying alewife on the lake floor. Lakers are feeding on these dead and dying alewife instead of hitting lures. We marked tons of lakers and had tons of very lethargic follows. We did get some information from the trip but not as much as I would have liked. As for the results, we took 8 lakers. Five were on rigs with strike assists and three were on rigs without strike assists. The lakers caught on strike assists were deep hooked and stayed buttoned. The lakers caught without strike assists, feel off in the net or were barely hooked. We tried brown fishing at the very end of the day and took a small king in brown trout water. Tons of bait inside. Hopefully it gets better soon. I will post some video footage when Calvin sends it to me. If anyone is interested in Strike Assists, message me and I will be happy to explain the product with you and get you in touch with Calvin. https://www.facebook.com/share/r/163e8ZHv7d/?mibextid=wwXIfr Strike Assist, a new trolling product
  7. Ever since I got promoted in January, Weekends have been trash. I miss shift work!
  8. Congrats Anthony and team!
  9. I have a buddy that is looking for 2 hand crank cannons. How much are you asking?
  10. Depending on how you care for them or cook them they are a touch better.
  11. After last nights trip, I can tell you the fishing hasn’t improved much. The alewife die off is still in full swing too.
  12. Dave, Which is it? If they are not counting them towards the Lake Ontario allotment, how come you said earlier this below. This decision isn’t entirely due to finding wild trout. DEC doesn’t stock brown trout in any Lake Ontario tributary below an impassable barrier. Why? Because they’d have to count those fish against the allotment to Lake Ontario. They pulled the brown stocking for a summer fishery on the Salmon River four years for this reason and this decision is now completing the Lake Ontario stocking policy.
  13. Without a tagging program or fin clipping study on wild fish, this is BS. They have no idea if those wild fish even make it to Lake Ontario….. Piss poor management in my opinion. With browns eating a lot of gobies, is the small population of wild browns that possibly make it to Lake Ontario from Irondequoit creek going to make a big difference? The number of wild fish that possibly reach Lake Ontario probably doesn’t even make up for the browns stocked near my work that get decimated by cormorants every year.
  14. BW Customs in Sodus
  15. Dave, Less spawning browns, less natural reproduction. There will be fewer browns in the creek to catch and fewer to spawn. It's simple mathematics. No one cares if they are wild or stocked. People just want to catch fish. Taking fish out of the system is what people care about.
  16. Is it really about stocked browns vs. natural reproduction browns? Thats the question I would like to hear the answer too. Is it a smoke and mirrors campaign to make Irondequoit Creek another Atlantic Salmon spawning habitat?
  17. I heard the same team that caught the 29.4 caught a 26 too!
  18. If these browns would have to be counted toward the Lake Ontario stockings, shouldn't they prove that these fish are leaving the tributary for the lake? Has a tagging study been done to see if they even leave? Weird timing that the browns are being cut, steelhead are being cut and 4K Atlantics being added to the creek. To me it sounds like it's being done for the Atlantic salmon project instead of wild brown trout populations and the steelhead fishery....... Low numbers of Browns and Steelhead in I Creek, Atlantics will have less competition for spawning habitat, better chances of spawning, reproducing and fry survival. Think of all the Atlantic fry and smolts that would be gobbled up with browns and steelhead on the feed in the creek.
  19. 2 more cutting boards for sale.
  20. Congrats Mike! Good job getting the young guns into some fish!
  21. The lamprey population getting closer to being in check is the reason fish are getting bigger IMO.
  22. Seems like this strain doesn't like inshore waters in late April / May!
  23. Conesus was horrible this winter.
