  1. Fished with 33Canuck and Lund sss yesterday trying to find a slob laker. Trolled for 4 hours and 45 minutes and put 57 lakers, 2 steelies and one king on the floor of the boat. Tons of 8-12lb lakers with the biggest 2 in the mid 17lb range. We put out 7 color and a 10 color off of boards and put the steelies and the king in the boat. The lakers are everywhere depth and location wise. The 2 17lbers were not weighed in because we are confident they will not stay on the board this derby.
  2. Get new team mates! I have tried everything and nothing works! I found the electric fly swatter makes for good entertainment but still does not deter them!
  3. A slider is another spoon on a 6' or so leader that is clipped to the main line above the down rigger release. You put the first spoon back of the release, clip it in the release, let it dow to the desired depth, take your slider (6' leader with a swivel on both ends) clip it on the main line to the rod and throw it overboard. The slider will slide down the line roughly halfway to the rigger (depends on how tight you tighten the rod down).
  4. LOL.
  5. Let's bump this back to the top since a laker COULD be leading the summer LOC right now!
  6. It was 31.11 lbs according to the LOC website! Awesome fish. Congrats to the angler.
  7. Glad I could help.
  8. I bet he runs 3 rods per person!
  9. Awesome laker Lou. Tell your guys thank you from the Escape crew!
  10. I have changed my tackle bag to new boxes. It is a Cabelas tackle bag and it is maroon in color. It holds 12 big plano boxes and 2 smaller sized ones on the end. It will come with a bunch of boxes. It needs a little cleaning but the zippers, material and handles are in great shape. $30.00 and local pick up or I will meet you somewhere in Rochester. If you want pics, let me know.
  11. You are nuts Rick. Would you throw $7,100.00 back in the lake? I think not. I really do not think we would have been able to revive that fish anyways. It was exhausted when it hit the floor.
  12. I run the 5/0 90% of the time. 4/0 will work when the fish are heavily pressured.
  13. 99% of the captains and mates work thier butts off to put fish in the boat for clients. Most mates do not make much $ for the job they do either. I would tip the mate and the captain $50.00 each minimum.
  14. I run 2 Okuma Blue Diamond 10' roller rods on the outside and 2 Okuma Blue Diamond 8' roller rods for my inside divers. I would perfer 4 10' rods because you can run longer leaders without as much headache. The combo of 8' and 10' together just makes things a little easier to manage when you are letting out divers.
  15. Blacks here!
  16. Use Hammerhead cowbells with a peanut or Spin n glow 30" behind the cowbells. Run 2 riggers 1' - 5' off the bottom with one 10' behind the ball and the other 15' off the ball. Keep your speed between .7 and 1.7 mph.
  17. Nice Job Rick. Nice job putting 2 solid weeks together in some crap conditions!
  18. There are rumblings of this around the marina! Stay tuned next year!
  19. Nice job on the Open. Glad to see someone found some decent kings!
  20. Thanks guys. The main breaker was fried. We had a very close lightning strike last week and the lights flickered every once and a while all week. Friday night, the dryer, microwave and a bunch of other things were running in the house making heat in the damaged breaker (it was the main breaker). The breaker was melted on the inside and started melting the outside. Luckily it was an easy and cheap fix.
