  1. Nice report Brian. Glad to hear you got into some fish.
  2. Temp is down now from the NW wind the other day.
  3. I do not want to see participation drop. The LOC and the other derbies help keep this fishery going. A large voice needs to bring this up to Dave. Other than a few goofy choices lately, Dave has done a good job running the derbies. There are a few things he could do to get participation up. Lowering the youth age and bringing back the rule about keeping fish overnight. I do not afternoon derby fish a lot due to the simple fact that the bite is getting hot when the weigh stations are already closed. What is this rule stopping anyways? Is someone going to try to drive from Lake Michigan to weigh in fish? I do not think so!
  4. I know John. Sad part is Jason could do that to any of our boats!
  5. Scott, Rob and Keith, great job on another well run tourney! Keep up the good work.
  6. If you want to CONSISTENTLY catch lake trout especially BIG lake trout you will need to troll under 1.8 mph. But what do I know. I have only put in hundreds of hours trolling lake trout in my 28 years of trolling Lake Ontario.
  7. Most brands of cowbells are designed to run under 1.8 mph @ the ball. I found 1.1 to 1.5 is the sweet spot. .7 to 1.8 is the min and max I have found to get them to work properly. Once you are over 1.8 mph @ the ball, the blades thump too hard spooking lakers most of the time.
  8. Congrats on the Shootout finish. Why is it they always hit when you are trying to take a leak?
  9. It never pays to smack talk!
  10. Started the morning in 125 off the nose. 4 minutes of trolling and only five rods in the water, we were on our first fish of the day. After an awesome fight, Keith slid the net under a 30lb 12 (loc scale weight) king. After 15 minutes of getting rods out, the 210 diver starts screaming. After a 550' run, Steve Lands a 27 and change king. At 730 we did our third king at 15 and change. After that our day took a major turn ( just like the bills we started of strong and then we faded away!) We struggled to find fish over 7 lbs. we did have a nice laker but it was short of the 30" minimum by 1/4"! At the weigh in, we took 10 th place and big fish of the tourney. Congrats to all the winners. Once again the guys that ran the Shootout did an awesome job!
  11. Nope. I do not think we will ever see the age at this point.
  12. While we are at it lets get the lake trout division back and allow us to weigh in fish the next morning. Maybe we should put together a petition?
  13. Is there a list of teams that has entered the Calcutta? Just curious.
  14. One Atlantic over 25" and 2 lakers with one in the slot (25 to 30") too.
  15. The only way to get this changed is to make our voice heard. Email him, start a poll get others to do the same. Atleast lower the age some. A 6 year old should be able to handle Lake Ontario fish as long as they have done it before. I can see not having full divisions because of the cheating that used to go on. Do something simple like pass out trophies and fishing tackle. Avon Anglers ice derbies lets kids enter and gives every kid that participates a piece of icefishing equipment. All kids get a raffle ticket at each derby and they draw a ticket at the last derby for an ice tent. Kids are the future of this fishery. We NEED them involved.

Trying to sell stuff so you can pay Yankee Troller after the shootout?
  17. Both have thier pros and cons. I stay away from singles because they seem to come right out of the eye on smaller fish (mostly small steelies).
  18. Nice job Pete. The fish Gods will repay your for springing into action. Now if we could only get you to like a better Football team!
  19. It is not just the Sodus Pro Am. The Sandy Creek Shootout has the same curse. We are greated with East winds, rain, and waterspouts!
  20. The bite is best from 9 to 4. Low light hours, there are fewer along the bottom and more up higher in the water column feeding on alewives.
  21. Strictly for entertainment purposes! Every year can't be like 2012 Keith!
  22. Gizzard shad. The crew on my boat likes to try to catch them with the net on the way out in the morning.
  23. That is the reason I have 1 kid!
  24. Congrats guys! Is Hambley going back into hibernation now?
