  1. Come on Tim, why wouldn't salmon eat worms? They eat sponge in the tribs!
  2. I would say 36" and knock the creel limit down. I had an old timer arguing with me on the ice at Conesus one day about the pike population. He was upset that the population of monster pike was way down compared to the 80's. I told him he was part of the problem. He had 4 big pike laying on the ice! I caught and released 2 and he was pissed. Some guys (like myself) enjoy eating pike. I try to keep 26-30" fish and let the bigger ones go. I will keep big ones if they are not going to make it.
  3. It is against the law to target out of season species. Bass is the one exception.
  4. 300 yds for me. I hooked a 27lber in the dorsal fin on my 300 copper 2 years ago. The spool was almost empty before we could start turning!
  5. Normal years the end of June kings start to show up from Rochester East. Tha past couple years, you can throw that out the window.
  6. 150 yards of backing sounds a little scary! You lose 1/3 of that from the boat to the board!
  7. No book needed. Just spend hours reading this site. Here are a couple go to combos / spoons for me: Spin Doctors and Atommik Flies- Hammertime Spin Doctor with the Green Hammer fly Live Wire Spin Doctor with the Green Crinkle fly White Crush Spin Doctor with the Mirage Fly Dalmation Spin Doctor with the Blue Hammer fly Stinger Spoons- NBK - Stingray and Mag Gator - Stingray and Mag Diehard - Stingray and Mag Tuxedo - Stingray and Mag
  8. Congrats on the trophy laker.

    Nice job Steve!
  10. Nice job Matt. Glad to hear everything went well with the boat. Was the steelie beat up from being in the creek?
  11. I have a 150qt cooler. It all depends on how much fish you keep. If you only keep a couple, a 120qt will be fine.
  12. Congrats on the successful shakedown Matt.
  13. Sleepy Hollow and East Fork are less than $35.00 / foot. I believe they are $25.00/foot.
  14. I was reading they started holding back some water on April 6th. With the monsoons we have had the past couple days, the lake should start coming up now.
  15. Save the cash and network with guys in your port. Have someone that will come get you if you break down.
  16. What do you guys think Lake Ontario will throw at us this season? Make a prediction on the biggest weights (lake wide) of each species caught during tournament fishing this season. Here are my predictions: King - 36lbs 8oz Steelhead - 19lbs 2 oz Brown - 24.5 (already caught at the Oak this past weekend) Lake Trout - 29lbs 11oz.
  17. Always start out with one in the riggers, one on a diver and one on a copper. Let the fish tell you what they want you to run. If the flashers are quiet, change them up. I always leave atleast one flasher out. Most of the time I will leave it in the rigger spread. I'm a firm believer that a flasher will suck them into your spread. If they are not hitting it, they are still coming over for a look and then hitting the spoons in your set.
  18. The Escape crew eats good when we are out. Kurt usually brings the Venison Slim Jims, Keith brings the Dunkin Doughnuts (if Dunkin Doughnuts is not out of Doughnuts. It did happen last year!) and I bring the Cheezits when I remember them.
  19. Congrats on the slob brown. It is amazing to see the slobs this lake puts out year after year.
  20. I would still come up and fish the Spring LOC. The LOC is a great derby. Do not let a little boat traffic scare you off. Find fish outside the crowd and have fun. Fish more afternoons too. The afternoon bite can be awesome and most guys do not take advantage of it.
