  1. Look at www.fishhbt.com. They have the best price i could find
  2. This season the lakers got hit hard. The 3 seasons prior they were left alone for the most part. And you are right Steve, laker fishing is work but only if you are doing it the right way!
  3. Another reason the lake trout are getting bigger because the pressure has been off the fishery the past couple seasons. The king fishing was good enough the past couple years and the charters did not have to lean on the lake trout population to help support their trips. Same thing goes for the browns.
  4. The laker season closes October 1st. They do spawn without much success. Usually offshore steelhead and future year class kings can be found offshore all over the water column. Some years it rocks and some years it is tough. Browns can be found along shore like the spring once the water cools some. Closer to some tribs usually holds more fish.
  5. Unfortunately a couple bad apples ruin it for the guys that work their bits off. Those that lack the key attributes of a good captain should not last long. Clients are spending good $ and will figure it out.
  6. Daiwa saltist hands down.
  7. This would make on hell of a sport fishery since Atlantic populations are piss poor for the amount stock ( mostly by Canada). Look at the numbers stocked in Canada compared to the numbers that return. Hundreds of thousands stocked with a hundred or so returns every year. Remember Atlantics spawn more than once in a lifetime so that makes that hundred or so even worse. The dead kings are not an issue. If you ever want the truth about Atlantics, log on to spoonpullers and look up a guy by the screen name Kwikfish. He will give you some good facts on Atlantics
  8. Email dave chilson. He might give up that info.
  9. You guys has to be flying. We were doing 2.6 at the ball. We ran 2 riggers,2 divers a 10 color and a 300 copper. All our fish came up high. Nothing deep. We ran 2 rods deep and the rest high.
  10. Nice job Nick. We were right next to you. You did not miss much going in early. The bite was best from 4 to 6.
  11. A coworker of mine was walking the pier last Thursday afternoon and took pics of a guy that caught a 18lb king off the end fishing bass
  12. I forgot to mention Atommik. I buy a lot of stuff through Tom because he supports the fishery. Just look how many derbies he supports with free stuff.
  13. Where is the picture Nick? You can;t leave us hanging!
  14. Here are my minimums for a wall mount. All of these figures are with in reach in Lake Ontario. I would love a 40lb king but how many legit 40lb kings are really caught out of Lake Ontario? King - 35lbs Coho - 18lbs Atlantic - 15lbs Steelhead - 16lbs Brown - 15lbs Lake Trout - 20lbs.
  15. If they are big enough, they go on the wall. If they are eater sized they become food for me someone I have lined up that wants some filets.
  16. How big was the one? Nice job Has Been.
  17. Sorry to hear that Nick. That inside bite has been tough the past couple days in the am with the full moon. The afternoon bite is a different story!
  18. Congrats!
  19. FISHHBT.com. I have purchased a bunch of stuff from this site and their prices are great. Just look at the prices of a saltist linecounter reel compared to other sites. They are also located in Rochester. It is nice to put some money back into the local economy.
  20. Can't live if it is released to the cooler. I have caught fish over the years with broken gill rackers, busted up jaws and all sorts of other injuries that you thought would have killed them.
  21. What brand of reel? Was the reel completely full? What size diver? What brand of Diver? With rings? With out Rings? The reason I asked these questions is line counters are accurate with a FULL spool not partially. Each brand / make has a difference in counter accuracy. Try it sometime. I stretched out wire from a Saltist and a Sealine down the sidewalk in my neighborhood and there was a difference. I still find these numbers off from expierence from trolling skimming the bottom for browns.
  22. Report the incident to the Coast Gurad.
  23. Screw the wind. I would be more worried about this stupid full moon. After todays humbling day on the lake, I hate a full moon way more than an East wind.
  24. We used to put a little bit of beer in a small container and put it in our garden and attract them to keep them off the plants. It was amazing how many would be dead in the little tray.
