You can not be on plane within 200' of shore or another boat correct? They could have slowed down after speeding up and communicated with the boat. No excuse for running around the boat on plane. I understand they are doing there jobs but there is the right and wrong ways to do things.

The last one we needed for the cycle ended up putting Melissa in 8th place in the steelhead division. The fish hit a green crinkle A-tom-mik fly behind a hammertime spin doctor down 85'. At the scales it came in at 13.00lbs. It was a short trip due to lightning but we got a lot of fish to the boat in that short time. Almost every time one rod went off, we ended up doubled. Tons of upper teens kings and low 20's kings around. Back out this weekend. I will post the picture later. Here is the pic of my wife's steelhead.

A lot of times this happens because the leader get knicked from the pliers on the fish before. The 50lb. leader on them should be enough but be careful.

And do not take pictures of them! We all know what a small king looks like.

The thermalcline has officially set up. The intake temp where I work went from 47 degrees to 66 degrees in 24 hours. I find where the thermalcline meets the bottom and start there trolling north until I find fish. I will be out Saturday out of Sandy. Call me on the radio if you want info. My boat name is escape. I'm not sure what guys are running for Power Pro. You do not need to change to a twillie tip until the wire cut through the tip. That will take a while.

BP, I would get rid of the mono and go with braid or wire. As for riggers, Flea season is right around the corner. 30lb mono or Flea Flicker line is a must.

Take a 5 - 8' piece of mono or florocarbon and add a swivel to each end. This makes the actual cheater. Fixed cheaters- Let mainline spoon out desired length and clip it in the release. Let the rigger down 10,15,or 20' (What ever distance you want). Clip the swivel end of the cheater to the mainline of the rod, half hitch a size 16 (small)rubberband around the mainline and clip it in the swivel. This will keep you cheater "fixed" at that spot on the main line. When the fish hits, it will break the rubberband and slide down the line to the other spoon. Sliding cheaters- Let main line spoon out and clip it in the release. Let the rigger down to desired depth. Clip on the cheater and the cheater will slide down the main line 1/2 or more to the ball. When the fish hits, the slider will slide down the mainline to the other spoon. I run more fixed cheaters than sliders. I like being able to duplicate the exact spot I took the previous fish on a cheater. Sliders do better when this fish are spread out in the water column.
