  1. Nice steelhead bear. Hopefully it holds up for you guys.
  2. When we have East winds and upwelling, I head offshore until I start to find stable surface temps. I start fishing there and head North until I find fish. It is not a complete waste of time. Some days are good but it just takes more time and effort to find fish. Fishing for me is about the challenge. Those tough days can be some of the best days. You challenge yourself and you LEARN something.
  3. Only issue with this is teams that run to other ports. If a storm cell goes over the Oak and a team is fishing off the Niagara River with no lightning in sight, Are you going to call that team into port? I agree that the tournament should have some guidelines but it will be hard to put into place when boats travel MILES from port.
  4. ANY used boat get a GOOD survey done on it. A VERY large percentage of older used boats have hull blisters, stringer and transom rot, and other mechanical issues. These repairs are very costly and take a lot of valuable fishing time to repair.
  5. I have run the X4 probe on my boat for 2 season now. Rock solid. Why are you excluding the Fishhawk and only going with the Moor or Depth Raider? All 3 are quality units and will work. Some are just a little easier to deal with. Coated cable, antenna, and the ability to only use it on one rigger turned me away.
  6. Thanks to this post, I will not be eating dinner tonight!
  7. Never say never Tim. Plastic GEARS and BELTS WILL wear out.
  8. Nice job Scott. Way to represent Sandy!
  9. Sandy Creek state launch. It is a lot colser to deep water than I-bay or the River.
  10. I say X4. All the brands are good but it is all personal preference. I'm a firm believer in you pay for what you get. If you buy cheaper, you will get cheaper.
  11. According to the Trollers guide Big Lake Edition it is 7 feet per oz. with 50 when you let the lure out 50 clip on the release and let 50 more out. There are a lot of variables. Line diameter, line lenghts and boat speed.
  12. Could have been from a bullhead or catfish stinger. By brother had something similar happen.
  13. There are plenty of teenagers with the occasional 20+ around Sandy lately. Just got to know where to look. Angle of the dangle, PM sent.
  14. I run the old unit with the new probe and it is awesome. Had it down 160 all day Saturday and it did not skip a beat.
  15. Happy belated Birthday Shawn. Hope your B-day was a good one.
  16. Happy Birthday Tim. Hope it is a good one.
  17. Fishing Report Your Name / Boat Name:Escape ============== TRIP OVERVIEW ============== Date(s):6/4/11 Time on Water:6am Weather/Temp:65 degrees / cloudy Wind Speed/Direction:calm Waves: calm Surface Temp: 49* -53* Location: LAT/LONG (GPS Cords): =============== FISHING RESULTS =============== Total Hits: Total Boated: Species Breakdown: lots of Steelhead, 2 small kings and 2 fat lakers Hot Lure: NK steelie special (don't know the real name but this is what I call it) Trolling Speed: 2.3 - 2.7 Down Speed: 2.2. - 2.5 Boat Depth: 230 - 430 Lure Depth: surface to 20 down ==================== SUMMARY & FURTHER DETAILS ==================== Started in 220 and trolled out to 430. Fishing was slow until I trolled back in to 250ish and found a nice break. Steelies were on fire on the boards. My favorite steelhead spoon 125 back with 1oz. of weight took most of our fish. Had a really big king on off the boards and it came off after one hell of an ariel show. Took 2 lakers off the same spoons on the boards. The kings were deep but not that active. A couple boats got a couple teenagers. We only had 2 small kings. Got chased off the lake early due to a nasty thunderstorm. Sucks because we were on the fish good until the storm came rolling in.
  18. Let me know if you fish tomorrow. If you do, call me when you are getting off the water and I will run it down to Sandy. I will PM you my cell
  19. This reel is approx 7 years old. The drag was replaced by Tuna Toms 2 years ago. $60.00 takes it. If you want it shipped, you pay the shipping.
  20. Go with a surveyor. With out one, you might end up with a hefty repair bill.
  21. And a SAINT!
