Copper set-up questions
spoonfed-1 replied to Pj Weber's topic in Questions About Trout & Salmon Trolling?
Both Atomic and Fish Doctor charters websights have information on Copper setups. Atomic has the info regarding rods, reels, leader mat. and backing and Ernie has knot info ect. in video format. Check these out. Out of Mexico it's not uncommon to fish depths exceeding 100 ft. I have 500 and 600 ft copper rods on the boat and although it's not advised, I fish less than the full length when needed. I don't have the storage room or money to invest in individual copper lengths for all depths so I make due. Glen -
Great news Rick, Thanks for the update. Glen

Stan, sounds like you encountered a lazy son of a b Sheriff who really doesn't give a da_ . Seems like he had every right to confront if not ticket these people that were scaring that beautiful part of the country with their garbage. Especially with two witnesses. I could have got myself in a BUNCH of trouble with that clowns response Until things are done about it nothing will change. That gets me as mad as the slobs that were doing the trashing. Glen

Coated Cable for Depth Raider/Moor Sub Troll
spoonfed-1 replied to Matthew's topic in Open Lake Discussion
Matthew, If the cable really is more durable than the existing cable and transmits the signal as well it would be worth the fifty bucks. Constantly trimming and reconnecting the probe IS a pain in the azz.. Cable strength and diameter is also a huge consideration. Stripping the end of the cable for installation is required as well so technically you have to be able to "peel it". Also what spool length are we talking about here. I use 300ft because of the trimming and repairing I do. Your inquiry, without knowing these specifics, is way to general to give a simple answere to. Hope this helps. Glen -
Out of State visitors also contribute alot of money towards your fishery with their license fees as well as the local economies along the lake. How would your state government treat this fishery if it wasn't making money? Just some food for thought. Glen

Kingsalomon22 I always had a soft spot for beautiful Brook trout. Those are some dandys. Unfortunately the native Brookies in my neck of the woods are very small with 9 inches being a big one. I fished a lake in Canada years ago, Lake Wachonichi, and the Brookies in it were sweet. Probably a pound and three quarters to two and a half average. Hit a couple in the 5 lb range during the week. The most enjoyable trip I ever took. Wish I had reasonable access to nice Brook Trout water. I really miss fishing those Skaneatles Rainbows also. Used to do alot of it. They are not only beautiful fish but are strong as hell for their size. These are all beautiful fish in there own right and nice pictures guys. Chromesalyer, you do come up with some magnificant pictures. Keep them coming. Thanks Glen

Willie Drift Boat for Sale
spoonfed-1 replied to sszoldra's topic in Classifieds - Buy, Sell, Trade or Rent
No nothing wrong with that. Just a little unusual is all. In my experience when something is a little unusual about an internet deal it's a warning flag. Good luck with your purchase. Looks like a nice rig. Glen -

No way I voted for this snake oil salesmen. In fact during the campain I blew out my back and was out of work for 8 weeks so I got to watch him change his story every inch of the way. Watch Fox news for some accurate and honest reporting. Sure there is a journalist or two who are far right but most are conservatives and give an acurate assesment of what this guy is doing. AND IT IS SCARY. Glen

My wife and I fished from 8:00 am to 11:00 am this morning Stan. Water temp was 46 deg. Did 6 Bows, lost 2 and they wouldn't touch anything over 2.1 sog. This morning we hit um good on flat lined copper spoons and small silver and red flat fish just below the surface. Glen

Beautiful country Stan. What kind of fish are in those nice clean looking lakes? Thanks for posting.

Well Iceman there are alot of good hard working American familys that are eating because they are employed by Toyota. My truck was built in California. None of them are on the unemployment line during this time of layoffs and no jobs. Now the only comment I got for your World war two rant is I wasn't around then. My father fought in that war and god rest his sole is long passed. That seems like a real friggin stretch to me. You really have a strong argument with the cash for clunkers program. Far as I'm concerned I'd like to keep some of my paycheck instead of having the government spread it around to the companys that have been ripping us off blind and living high off the hog for years. I can't see them hurting now if they built a quality product at a resonable price. Would we even be talking about Toyota now if they did? But thanks for the insight. Glen

Iceman I have heard about this and I do know it's all speculation at this point. Have to wait and see what comes of this. I also know that my tax dollars are not being used to bail out Toyota/ Lexus and I find that FACT to be pretty interesting at this point. I also find the timing of this story to a bit coincidental with the government take over of GM. Seems like this type of story telling is quite common place with our current administration. Anyway I'm sure we will learn the truth and hope it's done quickly to prevent any further injuries or losses. In the meantime I'm pretty happy with my Toyota. And Scottys too. On a side note when people ask for opinions on these message boards you will never see me comment on a product I don't have any experience with. Come on April. Glen
