  1. This is how I mounted mine to my hardtop using a piece of 1/8" stainless "L", works fine.
  2. Check out Fish Doctor's video tips on tying "Tournament Tie" leaders. I've found this to be one of the easiest methods to use to snell heavy lines . http://www.fishdoctorcharters.com/template.tpl?selector=video
  3. Look at an Airmar B60, 50/200 Works great with my HDS 8, much better picture than the stock 83/200 Here's an installation video from BOE Marine, you might want to check with Jim for a price. It's not that difficult of a job to install once you drill the hole in the bottom. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QcBdkjCtifA

  5. My X4 also turns itself on automatically when I turn on my main power switch. It only does this when the power supply is turned off first then turned back on.
  6. That bracket is from Adventure Marine: http://adventuremarinemfg.com/ Very solid and well built
  7. Fleet Tracker You are on the right track, check out Fish Doctor's video tips: http://www.fishdoctorcharters.com/videos/video8W.html Spro swivel at each end of the copper with a haywire twist knot, it will be difficult to get the copper through the swivel eye 2 times but it can be done. Use a Palomar Knot for the Power Pro and your favorite knot for the leader. You can also use back to back haywire twist knots to splice the copper back together after your first fubar.
  8. 2k seems high to me compared to the canvas work I had done this year, I would check around. I 2nd John Mann if you can get the boat to Sodus, I am very happy with the work he did for me and John is a great guy to work with. John Mann: 315-871-6400
  9. A 47 size reel works well with 20lb line and will hold 280 yds, if you want to use 30lb line for fleas you will only fit a little less than 200 yds on one. Probably still ok for a rigger rod but I would prefer more line just in case. I use either a 57 or a Saltist 40 for 30lb line. http://www.fishusa.com/Product/Daiwa-Sealine-SG-Line-Counter-Reels
  10. Could be the condenser is breaking down when it gets hot. Try replacing the points and condenser if you can find a set.
  11. You need to determine where the interference is coming from, is it electrical or is it turbulence around the transducer from the kicker prop? Since you don't see any while running the I/O try just starting the kicker up without putting it in gear and see if you get the interference, if you do it is probably some kind of electrical interference. Then put the kicker in gear and see what happens, if it shows up then you might have to just relocate the transducer to the starboard side.
  12. I agree with Rick, the winds this year kept the inside temps all messed up and I think most of the kings stayed in the "blue zone" where bait was abundant and temps stable. I marked unbelievable amounts of fish and bait in shallow but they sure weren't active in the warm temps. If we could get out deep enough, weather permitting, we still had to go down +120 to find active fish and they seemed spread out. Just the opposite of last year. It's a big lake and there's a lot of area that most of us don't ever fish Rick, I would be careful blaming "Mother Nature", I wouldn't want her mad at me! ,
  13. Like Smallboat said, the "blisters" just need to be ground out, dry the hull and fill them in. Not a major structural issue like the stringers. If your trailering and not leaving the boat in a slip then it's mostly a cosmetic thing. After the blisters are repaired then make sure to apply a good barrier coat, like 4-5 coats of Interlux 2000E or equivalent. This will prevent any further water absorption so that you don't have the same problem again, particularly if you're going to slip the boat for an extended period of time. Anti fouling bottom paint will prevent hull fouling but will not stop water absorption by themselves. Check out Interlux's website for a full explanation. http://www.yachtpaint.com/usa/diy/default.aspx
  14. I just had a drop curtain made for my Penny by John Mann. He's in Sodus Point and works out of Arney's Marina. Excellent work, super nice guy and very reasonable IMO. Give him a call: 315-871-6400
  15. Hank, my boat runs great and no more gas fumes to deal with. Shifts much easier, makes docking a breeze. I've officially joined the Hank fan club and just want to say thanks for a job well done at a reasonable cost and for taking the time to fix a few extras. It's a pleasure to have met you and it's great to know a place where you can trust the guys to do the job right the first time. Roy
  16. Big fish for the day so far!!!! Hope it holds up longer on the board than the last one did
  17. Traxstech also makes adjustable rod holders for Scotty's, really like mine but they have gotten a lot more expensive since I bought them, like everything else these days http://www.traxstech.com/Downrigger_Rod_Holders.html I think Fish 307 would have either of the Scotty models available
  18. Here's another webcam with a wider point of view http://lighthouse.selfip.org:81/top.htm If you activate Java the camera will update every few seconds so you can actually see the wave action
  19. Try Arney's Marina for launching and docking. More geared towards fishermen, nice people to deal with.
  20. Catfish has a launch right there, nothing great but I can launch my 25' Penn Yan with no problems and Wally puts his 30'r in and out. They usually also have gas, ice and NY licenses available. They are at the dead end of a rough dirt road, kind of secluded. Short run down the creek to get to the lake which can get shallow but is ok for an I/O or outboard motor. It's nothing fancy, just a fishing camp with some cabins and older house trailers with some seasonal camper trailers mixed in. Give it a try, might be just what your looking for. Check out their website.
  21. Congratulations, nice fish Only thing better than your first salmon will be getting your son his first one:) Looks like you're hooked now!
  22. I've stayed at Catfish several times, the cabins are newer and very nice, the trailers are older but ok, the docks and cleaning station are not fancy but adequate and Wally and Cheryl are great people to deal with. Very convenient to have your boat right there at the dock. http://www.catfishcreek.com/ If Catfish isn't for you there is also the Port Lodge Motel on Rte 3 in Port Ontario, basic rooms at a reasonable price, not too far from the Mexico launch with a large parking lot for your boat. http://www.portlodge.com/default.htm K&G is closer to Oswego and has a nice restaurant right there. I've never stayed at Stick's but have always heard good reports from other guy's that have. Another place I've heard about on 104 closer to Oswego is the Evergreen. All these places get busy as the river heats up, especially on the weekends,so call now.
  23. No. 425 Hammer Head Rod Butt Cushion Click on Image to Enlarge - Now available in WHITE and BLUE! Attach No. 425 Hammer Head to the end of your fishing rod for ultimate comfort when fighting that fish. More comfortable and easier to use than most fighting belts, with a universal rod butt tube allowing for simple rod to rod transfer.
  24. Correct, generally the narrower/flatter end goes towards the front. If the paddle has fins on it they always go towards the back. If your not sure if you have it right just check the action by running it next to the boat before you put it out, same way you would check the action on a spoon or cut bait after you tuned them.
