  1. I'll second the Ultra Shield but I want a video of what happens to Tom when he tells Steph to quit whining....it works on horses
  2. Went 3 for 3, all kings, all down around 60' in 3-400 fow SSW on rigger took the two smaller one while this one hit a spinny/fly Bad news is we did find some fleas on our wires
  3. Rick With the new phone apps do you even need to use Twitter? Maybe a new forum for instant reports with a section for the "Captains" and another for the "pros" to keep them separate. You could even make the 'pro reports' only available to other pro members for a little more incentive to sign up and support this site. Roy
  4. LJ#1 w\std ring = Deeper Diver 107mm LJ#1 w\ mag ring = Deeper diver 124mm The mag diver's will have a steeper dive angle and will get a little deeper When running 2 divers on a side a lot of guys will run a mag set on 1 on the inside and a standard set on 3 on the outside to keep separation between them.
  5. The only thing I don't like about my 1116's are the fixed rod holders, they hold the rods too vertical imo. I upgraded mine with Traxtech rod holders. By the time you upgrade the rod holders on a 1116 you are almost up to the same cost as a 2116 HP which already has adjustable rod holders along with other improvements.
  6. Thanks Rick! Looks like you guys had a good day, keep it up tomorrow.
  7. Frank at Calumet Marine had a post on GLA on battery switches, look it over www.glanglerforum.com/forum/showthread.php?15890-Batteries-and-battery-swiches He also has the best price for the VSR switch that I could find and delivered it in 2 days.
  8. Try 315-871-6400, should work
  9. Copper is pretty forgiving, not like wire. If the kink isn't too severe you may be able to just straighten it out and smooth it off by pulling it across some smooth, round object. If it's a tight kink then cut it and fix it with either a spro swivel or back to back haywire twists.
  10. Lowrance NMEA 0183 Transmit Receive Ground Com 1 Y Or shield Com 2 Bl Gr shield
  11. BOE = By Owner Marine , Jim is the owner and gives great advice http://www.boemarine.com/ On my HDS units the nmea 0183 connections are tied in with the power supply cable, 4-5 22 gauge wires sticking out at the end of the pig tail. The plug on the back of the unit is for the nmea 2000 hookup. I don't know if the Elite series is set up the same way, check your owner's manual.
  12. check out the Adventure Marine 4100 mount, a little $ but solid as a rock http://www.adventuremarine.net/

  14. There is a current thread running on Spoon Pullers about how the Canadians feel the negative press on eating fish from LO has affected the fishery up there ( http://www.spoonpullers.com/index.php/topic,17606.0.html ). I've had friends that I've sent home with fresh salmon filets end up throwing them out after their wives read the DEC consumption advisaries. Facts don't seem to carry much weight in public opinion and we could end up like our friends up North very easily. We need to promote the positive aspects of our fishery as much as possible which include the health benefits and enjoyment of eating fresh fish from LO.
  15. On LO we are usually only looking 2-300' deep max so 600w is fine, the salt water crowd needs higher power for the depth. Because we are fishing realtively shallow you also want a wider angle cone coming off the transducer so that you're covering more area, higher power transducers usually have a narrower cone. The B60 does a great job for LO. Watch the YouTube intallation video from BOE, if you can handle drilling the 2 3/8" hole the rest of the install is easy. If you're using a new transducer you wouldn't need any adapters.
  16. There is nothing "simple" when it involves cutting a 2" hole in the bottom of your boat but BOE marine has a good YouTube video showing the installation process Really wasn't too hard, it's just nerve wracking to drill any holes in your boat exspecially through the hull.
  17. With Scotty's I've always used 2-3 stop beads together and never had any problems with them moving or losing them. I set them to stop the probe/ball at the water line and then put another stop bead just before the swivel hits the pulley. Actually the only time I ever had an issue with the beads was before I used an X-4 the beads would catch in the spring antennae for my Cannon Intellitroll. I think the larger tube type antennae would've solved that problem.
  18. Bill I have a TR-1 on my PennYan 255 with a Yamaha 9.9 HT. It will handle any conditions I want to be out in, within reason. I usually have the outdrive down and strait ahead but have tried turning it slightly into the wind to help the kicker when the wind gets up there, not sure if that helps too much. I don't live very far from you and sent you a pm with my contact info if you want to look it over, give me a call Roy
  19. The "noise" is like a deep buzzing vibration coming from the pump when it runs. It's probably a combination of the motor and the valves working. I tried insulating the hydraulic hoses and the pump itself with acoustic foam rubber and only deadened it a little. Also have the pump mounted on a rubber isolation pad. It's probably more noticeable because of the proximity inside the center consloe and being under the top. Most of the time I just ignore it but once in a while it gets aggravating so I just put the unit in stanby to shut it off while trolling and kick it back on for setting lines or working a fish. With my setup I can easily steer manually and watch the rods. I also have a Garmin TR-1 Gold on my PennYan and you can't hear that working at all, but that is mounted in the rear engine compartment, right next to the kicker. In any case I wouldn't give up any auto pilot and would hate to fish without one now.
  20. You should be OK, I have my S1000 controller mounted about 12" beneath the compass in my center console and I haven't noticed any problems with either the AP or the compass. It's also mounted directly behind all the gauges and speedometer and everything seems to be fine. Looks like you will have more room to work with than I had. The pump may be more problematic since the hoses they provide are fairly short so you can't mount it too far away from the helm unless you get different hoses made up. My pump is also pretty noisy, hopefully the newer ones are quieter.
  21. Mike With all the options for mounting Cisco rod holder you do have to order the mounts that you want seperately. You will be very happy with the rod holders and the track system, I am with mine Roy
  22. Another option to look at would be Cisco's mount, if it's built like their rod holders it will be solid. http://www.ciscofishingsystemsltd.com/s ... mount-5224 You do see a lot of RAM mounts on Bass boats holding HDS 10's and they seem to hold up OK
  23. Not familar with Seascout Lowrance HDS structure scan is mainly for looking at bottom structure and has limited value when trolling. Very difficult to locate individual fish marks, they appear as small dots and not as the typical arches that we normally look for. Larger bait balls nearer the suface will show up and can be useful when looking for spring browns or steely's. Gives you something else to do on slow days.
  24. Make sure your gimble rod holders are good and strong, the one's that came as oem on my boat were too flimsy to hold the stress of a downrigger and were only held in place by 3 short screws. After I installed quality rod holders that were through bolted with backer plates they worked great. If the rod holder breaks loose you will not only lose the rigger but will also have damage to your boat
  25. What is the shaft length? Short = 15" Long = 20" XLong = 25" I'm looking for a 25" Thanks
