  1. Hmmmm maybe I should try a flasher n’Senko??
  2. For someone like myself considering this derby, perhaps you gentlemen could answer some questions. First, not wanting to kill a fish that won’t place, what are the typical winning weights? Where are the launches? Thanks.
  3. You should have texted me so I could move in on your fish! 😇
  4. For the size of the lakers in that lake, you will probably need younger year classes of Cisco born to feed those fish. The effect will not be seen for years
  5. Nice weed guard.
  6. This time of year I run slow on downspeed Between 2 mph with stinger stingrays, up to 2 1/8 for dreamweaver mags. Flashers work at both speeds. Flashers on long junk lines after 9 am, and spoons on everything else.
  7. We were East off the plant, enjoying the whole area to ourselves until we pulled lines at 12. I am pretty sure 90% of the three year old kings are in Niagara County waters right now.
  8. Sculpin I believe. Need to see side view.
  9. I swapped out the cannon wire terminals for Minn Kota plug-ins. Better connection.
  10. Very nice of you Rob to share your spread patterns. Not many charter captains would give up the goods.
  11. Nice work. I was hoping for a bar report. Water temp is about right for the area to start heating up.
  12. Since social distancing, my two daughters have become my boat mates the last four outings. I started them on lake trout then stepped them up to kings. They have managed to land every king until today where they lost a handful of bigs on long lines and paddles. They still have managed to box out every outing. They may be hooked which doesn’t bode well for my fishing buddies normal rotation lol. The one thing that helped today was I borrowed a fighting belt for them. They said it really helped. If there is a silver lining with this epidemic is that some dads have discovered their daughters like to fish.
  13. I use weather.com hourly forecast and then real-time buoy data. I am on the west side so I pull from the olcott weather buoy.
  14. Hmmm, male blades vs female blades. Perhaps a selling point.
  15. Come on Brian, put some lipstick on em!
  16. Depends on depth and how many rods I am running. If I am running two leadcore per side, I try not to violate the “v” pattern principle of trolling with the outside lines wider, higher in water column, and further back. With the v pattern in mind, I have the amount of leadcore in feet labeled on the reel so I know how much backing I need to let out on the short core to extend past the long core running inside. It helps to have linecounters but you can count lineguide passes. If I am over 40’ with an eight color, I am probably going to clip release to backing just past the knot. If I am over 55’ with the same leadcore, I would not hesitate to slowly release 50’ of backing before clipping on release.
  17. I spent a week up on lake George a few years ago and would see your boat hauling azz making a run from North to South most days. That boat can scoot.
  18. Ugly stick and talora dipsy rods.
  19. This year class of three year olds is funny. They are empty stomached-hungry fish. Typically I don’t put a flasher in the water til the calendar says May, but I have been catching Kings since mid-March on flashers.
  20. R&R magnum Kodiak Wobbler spoons. Email Dave at mytacklebox.com. Get the black with pearl cup and place them 10’ behind your downrigger ball within 10’ of the bottom. Troll with your downspeed at 1.75-2 mph. See spoons on engine cover
  21. Oh no here we go again......are you sure that was the spoon you used? I want you to think really carefully. The bright sun yesterday may have blinded you a little.
  22. 12 Fluoro tied to a dipsy is asking for disaster.
  23. And the bills are having another good draft!!!
