  1. One trick that makes assembly much easier is to slide all of the washers and drags on to a pencil. This will keep all of the parts in order and it is easy to see what has been cleaned vs. what needs to be.
  2. Goin Deep, I've known Daryl for about 10 years, ever since he started fishing the Niagara. I was told to harass you a little bit. I'm sure you expected it. Daryl is one hell of a guy, I enjoy fishing with him and we both have the same sense of humor. Needless to say it is always a good time on the boat. Whatever stories he has told you about me being skunked are not true! Sunshine, just a little harassment nothing hurtful.
  3. Nice fish! Great fish, Great river. To bad you had lousy company, and I would never say that about your son.
  4. Adam, I don't think you will have a problem. I think the ramp is a little deeper than the fort. The only think that I do not like is the ramp is not solid it is made out of raised blocks of concrete. It is probably for traction but it seems like this will fail faster that a solid slab. I think it is wide enough to handle any trailerable boat.

  6. I'm guessing the quick repair requires the use of a drill.
  7. Where I live, all of the streams are frozen over except for the Niagara. I have a place in the southern tier where I fish the streams but all of the streams around it don't open until the first. It is a little bit of a ride to the finger lakes for me.
  8. Can't wait for the 1st of April
  9. LOC Wrote:Urgent Notice Call the White House on Monday! On Monday in Washington, D.C., President Obama's staff is holding a closed-door meeting about what actions the federal government might take to stop Asian carp from entering the Great Lakes. While you can't see what happens in the meeting, you can call the White House at 202-456-1414 to voice your opinion. So much for Obama's transparency cries! What happen to the guy that said lets bring C-SPAN in and get this settle. He can't even discuss carp without running behind close doors. I agree concrete and salt sounds like an excellent idea. Use the railroad money that was promised to construct a rail system from the lake to the Mississippi and have a cargo and passenger rail.
  10. xdbcx, if you are looking for a slip on the west end it is hard to beat Wilson. Trolling in the spring is good. Trolling in the summer is good and trolling in the fall is good. You can make it out to 100 feet in no time and it sounds like it drops off a little quicker than out towards Rochester. If you decide to run to the red can its only 13-14 miles and there is a public dock in Youngstown that you can stay at overnight. If you want to fish the bar for a weekend, you have the option of running from Wilson to the bar and then staying in Youngstown for a few days and saving a little gas.
  11. If you need a contact for Wilson let me know. I do not have a boat there but have friends that do.
  12. I think he is talking about the Canadian side. I know there are a few pipes on the Canadian Shore south of Stella.
  13. Can't buy emeralds right now, none of the bait shops have them. There is Village Pro Hardware in Lewiston, and A1 Bait and Tackle in Niagara Falls.
  14. Horse Shoe Island Camp in Ontario. I have been there 5 or 6 times. The walleye fishing is excellent, along with the pike and smallmouth. It is inexpensive and the owners are wonderful. You can rent boats or bring your own. Good Luck.
  15. Gill-T, the arsenal that is used for spring browns also works well for walleye on Erie! This is the argument that I used when I proposed it to my wife. My wife is awesome, I got 2 17c and ML trolling rods for Christmas. Are you going to fish out of Youngstown again this year?
  16. I have to be the oddball and say spitfires. I have shot 4 or 5 deer with them and everyone has been a pass through. I only shot 63 lbs, and the arrows are Gold Tips 5575. Another factor is the farthest shot was 23 yards. Max. yards to recovery was about 50. I use to shoot 100 grain Muzzys and switched just to try something different. I think as long as you are confident in the shot and the equipment there isn't a bad broadhead out there.
  17. List below are a few articles regarding wind power. I think if you google the titles they will probably show up. These articles are from various journals. I did not have time to analyze each one, but they bring up a few interesting points about reliability, transmission loss and limitations. 1. A review on reliability assessment for wind power 2. Power limitations and energy yield evaluation for wind farms operating in island systems 3. Loss evaluation of HVAC and HVDC transmission solutions for large offshore wind farms These articles describe some of the pros and cons of wind energy. I am not saying that it is a terrible alternative, I just don't believe that there has been enough research completed on the efficiency of wind farms, and the integration of wind farms into preexisting grids that are as unique as the one we live on. There has already been billions of dollars spent/lost on wind farms and I don't believe that they have been very cost effective.
  18. An interesting article. It brings up an excellent point: How effective are these turbines? http://wvhighlands.org/wv_voice/?p=761 They say that these produce zero CO emissions during operation. What about the production and maintenance? Add to that the unpredictability of the production of actual electricity which then requires a secondary source to be used when production isn't high enough. And the $7 billion tax subsidies that the government has already spend/lost on current generating facilities. It seems that these aren't a viable answer.
  19. Great job Matt, your dad's might have bigger antlers, but which tenderloins will taste better?
  20. Fished 12 mile 11/26 caught this female. Went back this morning and caught a male about 8lbs. Stopped down at Burt Dam to watch the circus for a little while. I never even made a cast but saw a few browns caught. Both tribs need some rain.
  21. I stopped down at Artpark this afternoon for about an hour. I walk down and what's the first thing I see? Trash all over the place! Unfortunately, I started carrying a trash bag with me a while back most of the time I go fishing. Today, I filled it up. I didn't catch anything but saw a few caught from guys on the boats. Water clarity was about 2 feet. I'll have the boat out this weekend.
  22. I can't say enough good things about the Abu's. I have never caught a muskie on one but have caught northerns, steelhead, salmon and walleye on them. The C3 does not have a thumb bar but the C4 does and it's only about $15 more. I think the 6600 series would be what you would want and they run about $105. Just another option.
  23. Purple Glow Frog NK28, the paint was chewed off of it.
  24. The Lewiston launch is now finished, it opened Monday morning. Just a heads up for anyone thinking of launching at the fort, the water is terrible low. I have never seen the water this low before. If we don't get some rain soon, it won't be long before those launches will be useless.
