  1. Oswego Harbor was good for a few bites the other day. Between the walls outside the harbor has produced a few also. FYI, the can by the lighrhouse is in the wrong spot. Maybe it'll be moved by the weekend. It was still there Tuesday.
  2. Dvdgeorge, that is how I set up mine. I don't add weight, they will go down my towline as fast as you can feed them line. But I have hard pulling boards from Hank and slick line (Scotty downrigger braid). I can't remember ever having a line caught in the slot of the release but I'm sure it can happen.
  3. Look up Rainbow Trout Lodge also. Its a couple minutes from Wright's. His weekends are probably booked though.
  4. These are what I use and put them through the hexagon hole Rick has the nut and bolt through. Drill the hole a little bigger, press in, and I flare the end. Takes about a minute per release. Probably don't need to flare them but I do. http://www.idealindustries.com/products/wire_termination/terminals_crimps/crimp_connector_steel.jsp
  5. Sleeve the holes with the ground crimp sleeves for home wiring. Have you used them many seasons? The grooves only happen from lots of use.
  6. The 57lc is only good for up to a 10 color with 300 yd of 30# braid or up to a 200 copper with 300 yd 50# braid. I have 2 57's with lead and just set up a Penn 330 (comparable capacity) with a 200 copper. A 500 copper wouldn't even be close to fitting.
  7. I didn't notice Saturday if the launch was blocked. There was a party tent and people all over for an event.
  8. 150# Heavy swivel (the cylinder shaped ones)
  9. I had work done by both Northeast Trim and John Mann. I am happy with both and would recommend both. Northeast doesn't travel. John will travel.
  10. I used the heavy mono from Traxstech in the past but the expansion/contraction of it may have cracked the reel. Not sure though, just my thoughts. I've never used the dacron planer line enough to comment. I currently use Scotty downrigger braid and like it. One drawback of slicker lines is that the quicker the release slides out, the easier the wind can blow it back and bunch the lines together. Screwie Louis had some heavy power pro for planer reels on the shelf when I was there Saturday.
  11. Are you guys talking about the older style or new ST/STX style? The original poster said STX. Are you guys talking about mounting bases or swivels? Two different parts...
  12. If I remember right, it is the 20° B60. Hank put mine between the pocket and the transmission on the port side.
  13. I have Traxstech on my boat and have used Berts on other boats. Either brand will serve you just fine. It would be hard to justify the additiomal cost of anything more expensive.
  14. My thoughts too, a voluntary handicap. I have two braid slide divers. If I was starting over I would not spend money to set them up again.
  15. He's in Port Bay, between Fair Haven and Sodus Bay.
  16. Generally speaking, are the PFR's deeded easements? Or are they an easement agreement with the current landowner?
  17. If your gunnels are only 2" wide that probably isn't wide enough for the hole pattern of the track. Maybe you would need to make some sort of stantion to mount to the gunnel first. If you browse the Traxstech website you can see some different mounting options. I don't know if Berts offers mounting accessories. If it ends up that you can place the track flat on the gunnel and get all the bolts in, caulk it with 4200, 5200, or Lifecaulk between the track and gunnel and back up the bolts underneath like the guys mentioned above.
  18. I have the lock for the one STX I have. How mine is mounted (fixed position chute) there is no visible hardware to unbolt. Can someone break or cut the rigger to get it off, sure they could. All my riggers are locked but with anything on a boat it is just a deterent. Charter Lakes told me if someone can step on the boat and unhook whatever and leave, they won't cover it in the insurance. If they have to tamper with it or break it, it would be covered.
