  1. Nice thought, but the water levels change with the seasons while on your GPS they remain the same.
  2. Eh, do they have a biology department at RIT?
  3. I have separate units, both have a 4.5 inch screen. The fishfinder is a humminbird and the gps a garmin. The garmin gps gives me the convenience of planning a trip at home on my computer and then downloading it into the unit.I am very happy with this setup. The only way I would change this to a single unit would be by having a much larger screen so the two functions are easily readable and adjustable while being side by side on the screen.
  4. Greetings from a nice and balmy San francisco. This is the first time we saw our first grand son. It is good to be a grand father. Cornelis.
  5. I would start by putting the trailer on an angle so that all the water will drain out through the plug hole. the next thing to do is buying a few 10 foot 2 by 4s and 1 20+ foot 4x4. then build an A frame around the boat in a place that can hold the boat and trailer for a few months without sinking in the mud. Next, get a tarp that can cover the whole thing while leaving it open enough for air to flow through.By next spring you should be fine.
  6. Thanks again Ray. I will go downstairs now to test my Fire and CO2 alarm's batteries.
  7. Thanks for the kudo's on the small mouth. I did not target them and it is probably the second smallmouth I ever caught, I did not know that it was a big one.
  8. Gander mountain has them for $44. S&R on 4423 Culver has a different brand for less than $25 and after having used that brand it seems to work just as good as the $44 dollar stuff.(585-323-1182)
  9. When deer breed it is not always successful the first time around and the does that did not take the first time around or did abort at a very early stage, will go in heat for the second time, but only if they have plenty of food and they have to be in what is called a "positive energy period". This means that they are still gaining some weight. This is very similar to dairy cattle (about sixty days after calving) except that the rut period is only in fall.
  10. The tables have been turned on the gobies. They are now a main food source for bass and brown trout. The bass and also the browns are growing faster and bigger because of it.
  11. Fishing Report Your Name / Boat Name:Rolmops ============== TRIP OVERVIEW ============== Date(s):11-25-'11 Time on Water:8.30am-1 pm Weather/Temp:balmy Wind Speed/Direction:SW first around 15 then it picked up to 25 Waves: at first around a foot as time went on up to 3 feet Surface Temp: 45.3 Location:east of I-Bay LAT/LONG (GPS Cords): =============== FISHING RESULTS =============== Total Hits: 7 Total Boated:7 Species Breakdown:4browns,2 smallmouth bass,1 laker Hot Lure: brown trout lures Trolling Speed: 2.6 Down Speed: 2.4 Boat Depth: 45 to 50 Lure Depth: 20 to 40 ==================== SUMMARY & FURTHER DETAILS We fished with an 8 length 27 pound leadcore and an 18 pound 8 color leadcore + 2 downriggers . I tried stick bait on the rigger but no takers, so we just changed to typical brown trout lures. The first 2 fish were browns but then the next 2 that hit were the small mouth bass. Neither of them hit hard like you would expect from a bass but when we brought them in ,they gave a good fight. The first was 3.3 pounds and the second came in at 4.9. Then another browny and some time later the laker who behaved like a salmon. Towards the end another small browny. The thing I learned today is that 18 pound test leadcore runs a lot deeper than the 27 pound.(I lost a lure getting it caught on the bottom) I did some checking and it turns out that 18 and 27 pound test leadcore have the same amount of lead per foot, which makes the 18 pound test run deeper. Now it is time to winterize the boat. Cornelis. ====================
  12. What' up with you guys? It really is not very hard.
  13. I will go have a look today, but the launch at Mayers Marina on the other side of the bridge is open until well in December, unless the water level in the lake is really way down
  14. The..'. .. .... ..... .. ... .... ....... .ear. My dear wife tends to disagree,she thinks I have way too much
  15. Thanks,I had a great time working on it.
  16. Thanks,it is a lot of fun. Next Sunday is again quiet with southern winds and no waves.Am I gonna be the only one again or will there be a few boats?
  17. There is probably some very good news just around the corner on the front of plasma physics. Last week on NPR Science Friday there was an interview with an inventor who is successfully cutting the cost of plasma science fusion by roughly 95%. Instead of using the traditional extremely expensive accelerators (billions) he came up with an idea of inserting the materials into a centrifuge loaded with very hot gasified lead and while the material is in the center of this centrifuge he bombards it with shots of extremely highly pressurized air thereby increasing the velocity of the material to where it turns into plasma. So far the project looks very promising.
  18. Fishing Report Your Name / Boat Name:Rolmops ============== TRIP OVERVIEW ============== Date(s):11-13-'11 Time on Water:1 pm-4 pm Weather/Temp:55 Wind Speed/Direction:none Waves: none Surface Temp: 48 Location:east of I-Bay LAT/LONG (GPS Cords): =============== FISHING RESULTS =============== Total Hits: more than 20 Total Boated:19 Species Breakdown:Brown trout. Hot Lure: we tried different sizes and patterns and they hit on every spoon .Towards evening we used some patterns with more whites in them and they were also hit. Trolling Speed: 2.8 Down Speed:2.6 Boat Depth: 40 to 50 Lure Depth: 24 to 35 ==================== SUMMARY & FURTHER DETAILS Same as last Sunday, constant hits ,but this time my friend John was with me so we caught almost every last one that hit, although we also got some dinks that were dragged along. Nothing big this time, most fish were in the 18 to 20 inch range The biggest surprise came that as we decided to call it quits,we had hits on both the leadcores and both down riggers which made for a succesful foursome that was boated. I will try again next Sunday. Cornelis. ====================
  19. Try and read again. It identifies the lure as a "Stinger Superman" but I will help you even more. It is S97 or if you prefer the metallic version S126. S stands for Scorpion. Next time please try to read the entire post. And as for goldfish. If you don't read the NYS bait fish regulations completely you might think that goldfish is legal bait.
  20. I'll keep you informed. Cornelis.
