  1. Also agree with the Genny, mid summer, walk across seth green island, 2 number one hooks full of worms with a big flat sinker. bring lots of sinkers and alot of hooks cause you will loose alot in snags with the current and rocky bottom. but there always there that time of year, night or day. used to anchor the boat there and entertain the kids with them.if your not in a boat a slight word of caution if your not familiar or used 2 low income communities. Use some common sense, you are now in the hood .
  2. has anyone downloaded the navionics for the iphone? i have a 700 series humminbird with gps, will the navioics map be better? i was going to down load it anyways(it only 10bucks) so wouldnt have to flip back and fourth. any one know any fishing related apps? is there a marine radio or weather one?
  3. the river holds something all times of year. spring can be anything, eyes stay around awhile and the fall its good for the run. rule of thumb on this river is that it takes 2 days after the rain for the river to clear up. and remember the river starts in penn so it may rain there and not here effecting the river.
  4. bottomfeeder is right. take a left at the street with a barn on the right off rte 3. go about 3 miles, to the left theres grandjean rd. pass that, down the hill over the bridge and stay left right after the bridge, its 100ft up on your left. alot easier than it sounds. if you have google earth u can c it or just follow like you were going to go to the marina and you will run into it. You think after spending my whole life going up 2 that creek i would know the name of those roads, well they had no names back then and im not that old
  5. there are some good older posts on this, try under cheaters
  6. anyone know off hand what the 3 letter code is for trailer on the dmv registration? i was trying to renew on line, dont have the old one handy, and tried a few of the obvious ones. going to the dmv would mean taking a day off work that could have been spent fishing
  7. i also have a 782c2i with the map chip, works good, i did buy used on ebay and probaly wouldnt buy used again, for electronics its a big chance to take.If my state would stop taxing the living crap out of me i would buy 2 seperate units, one for gps and one just a graph, it becomes cumbersome i find fishing spring time if your trying to keep a heading on a steady depth 2 keep fliping screens.
  8. This was out of the Genny a few years back. The guys fish for them at night off the summerville pier, I only catch them at high noon
  9. I used to snowmobile alot. I mean every weekend going up north. if there was no snow here, driving and riding hundres of miles in a weekend. I put enough money into the upstate aconomy to put food on alot of tables up there and the warsaw area also. but when they raised the registration there were alot of normal joes who said screw it and didnt register there sleds, witch in turn led to less people getting insurance also. for me i would pay it thinking well it was going back into the trail system, but the average joe was going to pay almost 100 bucks a year to register his sled to ride around his house mabie not at all in a year? I havnt had the sleds out in 2 years, and part of the reason i knew with work i wouldnt be able to go up north if we had a week winter so i wasnt going to shell out that kind of money for one good weekend. And now they want to dip into the fund? I would hate to c the same thing happen with a salmon tax stamp. i know they have it in alaska, but i have a gut feeling the money is used up there towards something we would as fishermen agree on. Same thing as that bill that got turned down where they wanted us to register all our long guns for i think 50 bucks each? i dont even know how many guns i own lol. next ill have to register all fishing polls over 6ft long and a ten cent luxury tax on all single hooks and 15 cents on trebles. There will always be death and there will always be taxes, but come on. cut back on welfare of something
  10. I have a 3.7l merc with a closed cooling system so i just pull the plug out of the heat exchanger. 2years now i have used the boat alot when its still freezing out with no harm to the lower unit. Not saying it couldnt happen, just havnt had any problems.
  11. Sponge, let us know what comes about with the shipping. Im a ups driver, a business could next day air them usually across the country for less than ten dollars.
  12. My wellcraft with a 3.7l does the same thing, it has a whale tail on it, I believed it was just the torque from the rotation of the engine. I know they built some of the same engines with power steering and believed this was why??? If anyone has luck with using that fin (witch also holds one of the bolts for the lower unit on a alpha one) i would like to hear more. mine is so bad i dont think the girl could handle it witch give me a good reason to let her drive more when im setting lines
  13. Springtime on big stoney creek fishing for bullheads we used to get tons of them. In fact when i was a kid they were considerd garbage fish and tossed ashore. reading this artical gave me a little more respect for them. I remember when mmy great grandfather was still around there used to be a boat that would come in and shock the area over near the marina for them and then come over and give gramps any bullheads that got caught up in this,(remember this was 30yrs ago.) Given im all for protection etc, etc, but you ever c the slime they leave on a line or ever try to get one off a hook? not me...cut the line.
  14. Henderson i believe has a spring eye derby. some of the guys on here fish for them up there. The genny holds some also
  15. so is there a gun tax or not??? i dont even know how many i have lol
  16. Flytying, There have been posts on here before with much response about these carp. Think like a month ago a long thread when it was found that these carp have jumped some electical fence in Michiagan and already may be in our great lakes?,something along those lines. think people are just busy right this sec with the holidays.
  17. I dont remember In the river headed up to the bridge
  18. last year was the first time using a 10 leadcore and a 300 copper. loved it! I heard you can but it just seems to me either one of these would pull a church in line right behind the boat with all that weight. can it be done? Also, i know not to pinch the copper in the inline but is it safe to with the lead? Small boat, have three down riggs out the back. really need these heavy lines out and out of the way. Have some big boards but really trying to avoid buying a mast cause of placement on the boat.
  19. Lou Dobbs sucks anyways, bill maher for pesident
