  1. You really can't go wrong with either of the choices pretty much a wash between the two. If you live in Erie/Niagara county go with the ST don't have to go far for service.
  2. Commodore, After reading many of the posts on this thread I noticed a basic theme/hint -- go to the weeds. While I have not been to the 1000 island area for several years I have fished the system more than 20 years of my life, catching pike consistently since the '70's. Since the zebra mussel days I like to fish 15'-20' of water where the weeds are 5'-10' below the surface. My personal favorite is a large #5 or #6 Rooster Tail spinner in white, green or black -- I cast them out (at 3/4 oz they cast like a bullet) then retrive it just fast enough to keep it a foot above the weeds. You can do the same thing with any of the baits mentioned in this post -- spoons, countdowns, cranks, spinner baits -- I just love spinners!! First & Last hour of the day is when you want to fish!!! Good luck, can't wait to see photos!!!
  3. I think you posted this in the wrong place -- this "report" reads more like a "tweet"
  4. I have really enjoyed Nicks posts from the deck of the Rough Rider this past week and Yankee always is there with a report. I thought this poll might be fun.
  5. Just a Tumor To paraphrase one of rochesters finest chefs -- Why would anyone eat a fish?
  6. Nick, Take a 30 min ride west to "The Carlton" in Carlton. Visit Captain's Cove for lures then shoot south for great food. Both 5* places -- Thank you for your fishing reports -- too bad your not on the tweet's board, Yankee is Lonely over there as he is the only one there reporting instead of _______________.
  7. Interested in adding a T4 to my 25hp kicker/tiller can anyone tell me if this is a good unit and will it work for trolling in harbor/small lake situations? Thanks!!
  8. Look into the Simrad AP-14 I currently run this unit after having the Raymarine Sportpilot. I think I like the Simrad better -- it is quieter. I did enjoy the wireless remote that I had for the Raymarine -- If they worked out the bugs it may be ok. The Simrad links with the GPS very easily. It does have some problem keeping course in high winds and slow speed conditions (like spring trolling and Lake Trout trolling) Other than that it is great. I use it on a 29' single inboard.
  9. Rick, Thanks for sharing the report. Details are great as well. Boat sounds/looks great!! Knock them dead next week!!
  10. If you are looking for a good performance line with out a big price give P-line Floroclear -- it is not pure florocarbon but it is strong and works great. 30#, 20#, 15# Trilene florocarbon has served me well. 10# Seguar is great put it is pricey. Seems like when I have used Vanish, my fish and tackle seem to do just that -- Vanish.
  11. Just picked up a couple of Diawa Wilderness rods at $15 a piece if they last one season I would say I got my money's worth. I have always gotten my moneys worth with the Shimano TDR and for a 1st class rod the Shimano Talora has served me very well for 4 seasons now.
  12. I feel bad that I am getting in late on this one!! Tony and all the guys, one thing that Ray forgot to mention is that he has a "rut-detection" advantage over most of us. You see the average American Male is 5'10" tall give or take 2-3" this would put most of our noses 30-40" away from the #1 rut triggering organ on the female deer! Ray's nose on the other hand is only 3-4" from the natural level of this organ, combine this with the amount of nose hair and sheer volume to collect and hold scent for his olfactory gland to process and you have one heck of a "rut-detecting machine"..........FAR BE IT FROM ME to disagree with Ray on this one. You do not need a Biology degree to know that the extreme front and back of the deer are the most important organ systems in both signaling and detecting the rut! Great thread Vince, the only thing I can say is that I would have done better in Vegas than picking a peak time this year. It may be that the deer were moving mid-day, 'cause I hunted many mornings and evenings and did not see the #'s I usually do.
  13. I have this camera and it seems like the motion sensor/trigger is not working properly. Worked fine last season and early this season, but it is not working all the time now, esp. in the dark and at any distance. Anyone know what is going on with it?
  14. Ray, Aren't you a bit to hariy to be a decoy? Nice Buck!
  15. Mark, Very cool. I am looking forward to seeing a kill with it -- good luck.
  16. What's so new about this, I saw an electric reel on a boat from Ohio, much like this one. Too big too expensive A smart mechanic buys only the tools he needs. He does not buy gagets he repairs machines and at the end of the year shows a profit. Not quite fair to compare a hard working mechanic to part time charter captains that operate in the red. Tom, I saw this nifty pasta cooker, you could make more customers pasta and do it in a microwave.$10 for 2. By the way, I was talking about myself above
  17. Ray, Exactly where does a post like this come from -- do you sit around in the tree stand thinking of this? I'm not being critical -- just curious!! I'm am very happy that my son just took my #2 chain saw to shop class and fixed it --- after I spent $60 at the local dealer and it still didn't work!!
