  1. What length lead between spin dr and fly?
  2. I used viscous 12 lbs floro on my brown rods last year. Seaguar leader material for kings.
  3. They're $119 new at fishusa. $70?
  4. Been slow out there. It was dink city for us on Sunday. The week before we got 2 fat 12-13 inch perch and a few others that were 8-9.
  5. I run the smaller spoons with no ring. Micro swivel between leader and the main line. Snap swivel at end of leader. Mags I used to put a ring on. Lately, i run them the way they come.
  6. The Daiwa SG57 is 42.9 inches/crank. Saltist LC is 35 (except the 40 which is 47.2). Convector 30 is 24. The Saltist seems to have more torque. But an almost too quiet clicker. The clicker on a Convector can be heard a mile away. Which I like. It's also the least expensive. I've used all of them. And I'm going to add a few more of the 57's this year. I like the capacity and large opening. An SPRO copper swivel barely fits through a 30 Saltist. I run lead cores in the spring. And sea flee or FF in the summer on the same reels.
  7. I think it was 250. There were massive scum lines for about 2 weeks. All kinds of junk floating around.
  8. The Saltist are awesome! But I bought 2 Daiwa SG57LC last year and they are about $80 cheaper. They are the LC version of the seagate 50. Fast 6.1 ratio, huge capacity, tournament drag and big opening for swivels to fit through. I really like them! And they don't have the line counter on the side (which is the only thing I don't like about the Saltist).
  9. Those cisco's look nice! Don't go with Big Jon if you are going electric. I broke one hand-cranking.
  10. Your boat is too big for the launch at Warrens. I'd figure something out at Arneys or Krenzers. The state launch is packed in the summer. There's usually a bass tournament every weekend. I wouldn't count on launching there every morning. These tournaments are a really early start. I'd slip your boat!
  11. We crushed the steelhead out of Sodus in the beginning of June 2014. 20-30 fish days. Spoons on short cores and split shot rigs.
  12. The way I think. If the kings are hitting 90 down on the riggers. i'm wasting time/effort (IMO) to run a 200 copper just to have another line in the water. (After first light anyways). I know some people might want that extra chance at getting a bonus fish (most likely a steelhead). But to me it's not worth the extra risk of fubar. Because said 8 lbs steelhead will run cross every line you don't want him to.
  13. The otters with dual keels...dialed in will pull a couple long coppers. But I don't typically run more than one copper per side. I've tried it before. All you need is a minor error during deployment (like a hard turn, a false release or a fish to hit~especially steelhead). And you are fubared! And your spending a bunch of time irritated...picking out a mess. And usually buying a new copper (or two) the next day. I'll run a couple different cores or a core/copper per side. My coppers are the last things to go out in my set. That said...they are a stealth presentation (anyways) and less can be more. The inlines aren't for me. I don't want to fight the weight of the board. And usually don't have enough people aboard to have an extra hand available to remove the board.
  14. I would run smaller spoons on your 5 color cores. Then put those away after June. They rock for late spring/early summer trout. Mainly spoons on the 300 copper. Maybe a chrome flasher/fly on a sunny summer day on the 300 copper. Stretch your leader to 25 ft. My distance from flasher to fly is 23-25. Pick up a 500 or 600 copper. Wire on your dipsey reel and get another one. You'll catch more kings on your dipseys! Cut bait or flys with a 48-60 inch lead on your big flashers...down deep in mid summer till fall. For kings i usually run 2 coppers on big boards, 2 riggers (one stacked/staggered), 2 mag dipseys. Steelhead and browns: 2 riggers and 4 junk lines. Early Browns: 6 junk lines in shallow with floating stick baits.

  17. ^ What he said about down riggers is a great strategy!! I started stacking/staggering the baits and pounded the kings!!
  18. Green hammer. Ultra green glo. Pig pen 1 and 2, white with green dots, white crush glo, mtn dew crush glow, hammer time, green glow echip, super dew, black with green dots.
  19. We did well with flashers with green holo tape with green hammer flys.
  20. The big one is 3.something to one...
  21. I def don't want a Solterra. Too big, heavy and slow. Maybe I'll do 600 of 32 lbs on a Seagate. Or I might try the 60 size Penn Squall without a linewinder.
  22. Hmmm. It shows more mono capacity than a Tekota 800. And I have 150 yds power pro and 500 copper on a Tekota.
  23. Will a Okuma Clarion 553 fit 600 ft of 45 lbs copper with 150 yds of power pro? Also, is the line guide big enough for an SPRO swivel?
