She sure is. Niagara River on Monday. Back on the field this afternoon. Wind isn’t perfect but I’d love to see the deer that broke up last nights buck.
Was hunting a cut corn field last night. Most of the deer have been coming out after dark but last night they came out early. Had an old big body buck show up around 4:30. He was beautiful, by far the biggest buck I have seen this year. Problem was he was busted up. Missing his right side and had a couple broken tines on his left. Had great brow tines and could tell by the left main beam that he had great mass. Funny that throughout the season I’ve passed some pretty good antlers because the buck didn’t have the body and now I’m passing a buck with incredible body mass because he’s busted up. Will say I was very tempted and a little disappointed.
Friday looks interesting. Don’t think tomorrow looks like much fun.
Never paid attention to what Ash trees were in the past but now when it’s windy they are pretty spooky.
Pretty morning in the woods. Had doe and yearlings around me most of the morning but would have had to have shot through brush and branches.
Lots of pics in the cut corn last night including one possible shooter. Will be in the blind this afternoon.
At one of our spots the field corn was just cut last weekend and I thought the deer would hit it pretty hard. Have a camera on it and it’s been very quiet. Cameras in the woods have been quiet as well. Will be out in the morning in the woods and if my groundblind survives the wind this afternoon will hunt the cornfield tomorrow afternoon. Hopefully put a doe down in the morning.
One of my lease partners had a buddy up for the weekend. He saw just a couple doe yesterday afternoon but the wind was wrong for the stand he was in. I convinced him and my partner to let me put him in a different stand this morning and he killed his personal best. Nothing better than putting someone on a buck.
