  1. Rapala J-9 Perch Orange Belly. Looking forward to pickin up some Bay Rats this spring
  2. Idk if this is what you're looking for - I am not affiliated with this ad http://ithaca.craigslist.org/boa/5431404049.html
  3. If it were me, driving 5 hours with that rig, I would focus on April for Browns, or late aug/early sep for staging kings. More importantly, you should come up with a Plan B, in case the big lake is unfishable. You'll be 30 mins from Oneida, and around an hour to the various fingerlakes, depending on where you go.
  4. TTT Sent from my iPhone using Lake Ontario United
  5. Anybody have a set of Otter Boats they're looking to part ways with between Rochester/Syracuse/Binghamton/Corning? Thanks, Chris
  6. I had the same thing happen to me float fishing for smallies on the Susky in PA. Float went down, fish came in, and my jig was about 4" in front of it's face, in the loop of an old snell.
  7. Cheap plug for my buddys down at K&H. Stop in and see em. Chris
  8. After college I bought my first boat - a 17' Flare Center Console, with an 88 Johnson SPL on the back. I fished that little boat hard on the FLX and Oneida, and when the weather looked right, on the Big Lake. I burned a lot of gas on Ontario, and looking back, it's a wonder we ever got tight. These were the days when I would read online about boats limiting out in hours, and we'd troll all day without moving a rod. We'd fish dipsies without line counters, cowbells for kings, no downspeed, temp... nothing. It was no wonder we were never successful. But... there was one day, when we found the dumbest, hungriest fish in the lake. I can still remember my dad about jumping off the boat when that rigger rod started pounding. We got the rods cleared, and thank god no one was around us, because we must've done 4 circles while fighting the fish. We finally got it to the net - it wasn't a monster, but it was ours. This was the most expensive fish I've ever caught. It's cost me 4 boats, and thousands in tackle and electronics. We've come a long way since that one king on the Flare, but it's one I won't forget.
  9. Good fishing, be safe, and let us know how you make out!
  10. The lake is low, and one of the ramps is shorter than the other (sorry, can't remember which one off hand). It wouldn't hurt to bring waders and check it out before launching. As for ice, time of day could determine whether or not you'll have to break out. Your more reliable bet may be going out of Taughannok. Chris
  11. Depends on the day - current direction and speed can change often. Had one day of Oz where we would barely move into it, and damn near put off a wake going with it. If you don't have downspeed, start at the same speed as you trolled into the current and keep making "S" turns. Keep an eye if you take a shot on the inside/outside, will tell you to go faster or slower. Bump your speed up every 15-20 mins until you start moving rods. Or you could save gas money and buy a FishHawk Don't get in a habit of trolling exclusively with/against the current. Find the angle/speed they like and work it. If you find bait, work it. If you find fish, work it. Put the pieces together and fill the box. Easier said than done.
  12. Thanks for the report Sent from my iPhone using Lake Ontario United
  13. Myers and Taugannock parks both have camping/launching - you may have trouble clearing the bridge at Taugannock with your T-top... My planer mast makes it too tall to come and go for me.
  14. You did a nice job bringing her back to life - will make a nice ride for someone.
  15. When I've sold boats in the past, I would make the sea trial the final part of the selling process, and request a $100 deposit from the buyer. If nothing else, it helps weed out people looking for a free ride.
  16. Always nice to see another Grady around!
