  1. I have broken them when trying to bend them . Not all the time but enough to make me stop trying to bend them at 75¢ + each . I have tried alot of different ways . I have even put a split ring on the treble and Palomar to that so hook all ways trails straight.
  2. Sounds like Calidonia would be perfect for Brown's , which we need more of . Why did it close ?
  3. Just got a new 3/4 ton van and it needs hitch and wires I can get them on line pretty reasonable . Anyone out there ever install their own ? It doesn't look hard.
  4. Bosa has big game and gets Mahomes to have bad day . San Francisco running game keeps him off the field Sets up like Bill's / Giants wide right game . San Francisco 31 KC 26 But this one is hard to pick .
  5. No reason to be sorry Sounds like a perfect time to lobby for a new hatchery .
  6. I like Smelly Jelly . It's oil base and stinks . I get it on my hands and it gets on my clothes . And it's hard to wash off . And did I mention that it stinks . But it works great . I Will be experimenting with scent on my rigs more this year .
  7. I try not to be superstitious. But I am a creature of habit , and when I prove something works for me , I stay with it .
  8. 2010 GMC Savana . 6.0 motor . Hitch and wires .Wide open in back with crash cage and carpeted walls . Runs good . Pulls my 21 ft hardtop great and my 16 ft like it's not there. 147 k 4800
  9. As for me , I have proven scent works on warm water species , salmon and trout, still or fly fishing . I have a ton of confidence in it . The jury is still out on trolling but I do know when the plastic in my rig is new it gets hit more .
  10. Sense of smell is a huge part of the animal world . It dictates and triggers behavior And responses. It may be the sense that humans have evolved away from and depend for survival less than our ancestors . Artificial looks and act real , but doesn't smell real .We all know how well cut bait and brown trout eggs work . Modern day plastics are impregnated with salt and packed with scent . And are light years, better than early versions. In the last few years I have started using and depending on scent more and more on my bass baits and also on my stream steelhead flies with great success . I have used it years past but have found one that I like a lot . So don't discount it .
  11. My best are Rhys Davis . In glow. Hands down . I like the Challengers for my rigs as the plastic is softer . But they don't make them anymore. Tried a Dreamweaver I think . Tried to tune it , which I think is very important , and broke it. So no more of them . For the frugal out there I got some from Janz Netcraft ,that were pretty good . 4 for 6$ . I got glow but they had a lot of colors . I look for bait heads in every tackle shop I go in .Some crooks want as much as 5$ each.
  12. Fishing this fishery since the beginning and getting a fish hawk for the first time 2 years ago I can say this . I use to fish the bait and marks , and still do well. Now that I have down temp , I put my probe at 50 deg and put baits above and below and adjust from there . If I see fish high , I bring 1 up , or the other way . But I can say I have found 50 at say 50 ft and caught kings at 100. And marked everything at 70 , where the temp was and caught kings at 40 ft . So you never really know . Temps over rated IMO .
  13. I agree on the Wallmarts I have 3 of them . One lasted 8 years . I buy a new one every 2 years. One for my big boat cranking a Chevy 305. 2 on my small boat for cranking and trolling . No problems . Get a good charger and keep them charged .
  14. A, little anti climatic for me . A lot of stuff I already have and really don't need more of . Got some cheap bait heads and some hooks was it for me, Saving grace for me was talking to the Magnum MetalZ guy for me . I know know what my next riggers will be .
  15. A changing of the guard . Nice to see different teams . Super bowl is a toss up .
  16. I have some stuff . Let us know a drop off point / etc . What do they need ?
  17. That is the exact check valve I have had to replace twice in the last 20 years . The flap fails and what is left in the head pipe drains back into the crock and makes the pump run 3 times as much . This last time I replaced with clear one I got at Lowe's .
  18. I have an1986 alumacraft 16 , basically the same thing . Been debating redoing it or getting something newer . But I love the boat . Great multi specs boat . If I were you and were redoing yours I would not have the rear casting platform . I would make the rear deck to the motor well same height as drivers seat floor to lower center of gravity . Better and safer for trolling . Also lower front deck . I made a small casting deck just ahead of my motor well I stand on and my tanks and batteries are under . The rigger board is easily removable with 4 screws . My first boat I had my riggers on the back corners and they were hard and unsafe to set and adjust . My dilemma is the motor which is a 1886 35 Merc . It runs good and pushes boat fast enough for me but I would like something newer As nothing lasts forever . A new 40 hp is 5 k min .add in cost of rehab and that would be like 7 k + . But it would be new and last me probably the rest of my life . Good luck on your project and let us know .
  19. The one above looks like a fish that came up to take a look , depending on lead . The first pick looks to me like fish that could have been spooked by the weight and dove a bit . Or came in to take a look at aslider or stacked rigger as those marks are above the ball . Could it be the same fish that came in to take a look , faded back , took a second look , then a third ? Hard to say for sure .
  20. Also, if you have a wide angle transducer cone , the bigger and more distinct the hooks will be as the fish will be in the cone longer and distance to fish on the outside compared to center is farther . A narrow cone the fish will be in the cone for shorter time , so a " flatter " Mark . And they are more accurate IMO. The above pic looks like a fish that came up and took a look or bumped your lure IF , IF ,you lure was at the outside edge of the cone . Otherwise , it was a fish you went over .
  21. If you know how a depth finder works , you would understand more of what you see . Those marks you see may be fish on the outside edge of your transducer cone . When I see hooks , those to me are inactive fish staying in your cone as you drive over them. My favorite thing is to see what I call slashes as these are fish swimming around , looking for bait. They are in and out of the cone fast . The distance to the outside edge of the cone is farther than the distance directly below to a fish at the same depth . Thus the hook . If that makes any sense . It really should not matter if your transducer is tilted a little .
  22. If there is 30 to 40 ft between the lure and diver, does color really matter ? I own 2 slide divers , 1 I got at the show last year with the mag ring . Pulls like heck gets down to 100 ft with 65 # power pro . Black . Another I won many years ago that was one of the originals according to the guy at the show . I like it best. Gets down I figure 80 ft . It's lavender. I tried it close for staggers this year . Put it back 40 ft . Max side setting and put it so it was maybe 6 to 8 ft under water with like 8 to 12 ft of line rod tip to diver . It worked . I would think the smaller size would be excellent for spring fishing used that way with longer leads . Still would rather use my riggers .
  23. If the water is 20" higher this year , or even 10" , it will be catastrophic . Many dwellings will be severely impacted or lost . All this rain is certainly not helping .
  24. That is the problem when you have a one man show . D took Lamars legs out of the game and look what happened . Been telling my boys for a while now , for as good as he has looked , he will be a flash in the pan .
  25. I hear high water pants are coming back into style .
