I have the unit listed in the title. When I get out over deep water, say 400+, the transducer will not pick up bottom. Once I get under 350 feet or so I don't seem to have any issues. Is there something I can change in the frequencies to get a decent return and picture when offshore. The only frequency settings listed were chirp and 200 khz. Thanks!

You should set the transducer search on auto detect and the 93 will pick the transducer that is connected to it. Then set the program on traditional chirp and you should be able to see down to 800 feet.

The Gt54 isn't really the best for deep water.

It's really for structure fishing geared towards much shallower water. You could try switching it out to a Gt21 or maybe a Gt 23 with a cable adapter. You will have to check the Garmin web. Most switch to an Airmar P66.

Garmin's website used to say the P66 isnt compatible with the 93sv but it is.  Youll need an adapter cable and have to manually set the frequency during setup.  The only thing it wont do is automatically detect the P66 but works fine otherwise despite being listed as "incompatible."  Works great in deep water.  The cone angle is much larger than the Gt54 so it picks up quite a bit more.  Was well worth it for me.  I have a second graph networked together so I can switch between the P66 and GT54 without having to unplug them which is nice.

I put the 93sv with the g54 ducer on my little boat. Unfortunately I've only fished water to 100 ft depths so far and it been flawless. I plan on a Finger Lakes trip before the end of this season ( Cayuga and Seneca) so I'll know more after.running over 400 to 600 fow. I'll post up after that.
