Ice boom removal on Erie

Crews are supposed to begin work on removing the ice boom today. Plan your Niagara River trips accordingly.

Please note the stuck ice above the boom has recently released and is trucking down the river heading for Lake Ontario

It is BS that the boom was not removed on time.  It seems every year this is happening........

It is complete BS.  It is not pulled when it is supposed to be.  How many years have passed and the ice melted before the boom was even pulled.  Too many.

Unfortunately, it will take a lawsuit by fishing guides that can claim lost revenue or residents that can claim higher heating costs.

This has to affect spawning of walleye, smelt, steelhead and some other species.
