where to buy/order crimps

Recommended Posts

If you're going to put the crimp between the legs of the black's release on an un-coated cable, you'll need something bigger than the standard rigger crimp.  I buy foot long pieces of 1/16" copper tubing at Home Depot & cut it about 1/2" long. When it crimps, it's much bigger than the holes in the release and won't slip thru.  On coated wire I sometimes do the same or I use an electrical crimp which are crimped on top of a plastic tube ( like what comes on a can of WD-40 spray)  Doesn't hurt the coated cable at all as the plastic extends thru the release legs.

You can also use a standard (blue) 18 gauge wire crimp. I've used terminal ring crimps before and just cut off the ring. The coated outside insulator also acts as a bushing against the blacks release
