Wire on Great Lakes 47LC

1000' will fit no problem as stated above, but if you want your counters to be accurate use backing and fill that spool up. It's easy to do if your're spooling up 2 wires on LC's.

 

1. Spool the wire up on a reel.

2. Add backing and fill the spool up.

3. Zero the LC on the empty reel.

4. Reel the full reel onto the empty reel and note what the LC says when all the backing is on the new reel.

1000' of 30 lb wire perfectly fills a Daiwa 47 Reel, no backing needed.  At least, that's been the case with the 30 lb Malin I've been using for 15 years. 

 

That is on the SG47LCA's but I'm pretty sure the GL47's have the same capacity.
