Owasco Trip last Sunday

Recommended Posts

Trip last Sunday

So after 2 years I decided to make a trip out of Owasco.  First off I live in Scranton Pa and have enjoy this lake for many many years.  That is until now.

It wasn't because of the lake being so high from all the water the lake received putting a large amount of debris in the lake nor the terrible flees grabbing even my 30lb test..  Not even the small lakers I caught that day which was a total of 4.

It was when I got back to my trailer and noticed that someone had stolen one of my bearing buddies leaving my bearing grease exposed to all the dirt and grim that ticked me off.  Pretty much leaving me no choice but to drive home that way and then having to replace the bearings and races.

If that is how things are up there anymore I think I'm done with the lake.

Wish all you guys the best of luck.

I live 2 miles from the lake for 47 years we don't play that way up here. I have had my hubs covers come off before just change hubs out last year because of that.

yea seems odd they would take just one and not the pair ,, we run up now and stay at local motels right in Auburn and haven't had anything taken yet but its always on my mind so far so good its been about 20 years going up .

After spending all that money on their boats, trailers and fishing tackle, I guess they didn't have the money to buy bearing buddies or just one.

i am with the guys that already said you lost the buddy bearing while driving up . what you should have done before driving back to PA is buy a new buddy bearing . Bass Pro or a trailer place in Auburn just north of the lake ....

It sure does seem logical that if someone took it they would have grabbed both while they were at it. Those things if not checked routinely can work loose while you're driving down the road and pop off without you knowing it. That is where I would  be focusing without actually seeing someone or something suspicious and then making that conclusion. Might be a good idea tocarry a spare just in case....:)

Had to stay in Port while some bad weather moved through. Then after an hour or so we went out about 730. We saw 68 degrees at the mouth of harbor, then about 66 degrees at 190 FOW. But we decided to keep going out. We stopped at 384 FOW. It was 68 degrees on surface 45 degrees 50 to 60feet down. We trolled north. Hit 495 FOW. Surface went to about 70 with 45 degrees 70 feet down. Pretty stable. Stay between 450 and 495 most of the time. Quit at 1330. We got 2 Kings, and 5 steelhead. One kin

Wanted to go deep out of Hughes but wind report turned us off so Liney and I decided to try Seneca, haven't been there since Memorial day. We launched out of Sampson, hey they resurfaced the road into the park down to the circle, too bad they didn't keep going. Marina is beautiful and we where only trailer parked on lower parking. We decided to go start south of Long point and came north to Kashong. We didn't mark many fish at first but tons of bait. Once we got into the area off Angus we had a

Was finally able to get some friends I used to work with from Kodak out. Stayed in close since the lady mentioned she has gotten sea sick before and she has never been salmon fishing. Set up in 130 and headed west. Saw a few boats in same area. Riggers set 80, 70, 60, 50. Wire out 180 and 200 on 2 setting. 60 rigger (DW 2 face) released 3 times in 20 minutes but no one home. 70 rigger (Mag 42 gold) 1 release with no one home. Just started to eat our subs and 180 wire (white double crush SD/hamme

    • All last week

We fished all last week everywhere from Alex bay down to Blind bay. The large mouth fishing was fairly good but the smallies were really spread out. We caught a few more accidental Pike than normal but not a lot (while bass fishing). We also were able to get two eyes and a bowfin with some nice perch and crappies mixed in. All in all it was another great week on the St. Lawrence river . The worst part is now waiting until next June before we head back.
