Lots of good ideas here. Whatever you decide, temporarily set in place the downriggers where they will go or at the very least go through the motions of pretending to work them in all there functions. What you don't want is to be leaning uncomfortably toward the back of the boat always to work them, especially in rough water. Position them so they are comfortable to access and work with...Cheers!

I have a Panther steering kit that I paid 20.00 on here, but never used it. If I can still find it, it has a rod that can be bent to the way you want it, but I will ship it to you for 20.00 including the shipping cost. I will never need it as I'm running a Mercruiser with a kicker and use an EZ-steer to steer it. Another thing I suggest is to go to eBay and do a search for an outboard to outboard steering rod or a kit. You can see a lot of options.

Having coffee this morning, thinking about your rigging issue.... Again excuse my lousy drawing skills... Taking flush mount rod holders, either 30 or 45 degrees, whichever matches the angle on the boat better... you could drop gimbal mounts in backwards in the rod holders and mount a trolling board across.. A rod holder like this..... Mounted on your boat something like this, match the angle of the curve... Then drop in gimbal mounts backward, or use a 90 degree gimbal to make the mounting surface level and put a board across the back Maybe a flat 90 degree gimbal mount is better ??

I had a decent day yesterday. Fish seem scattered all over the place. Didnt see much bait until I hit 90fow, which is where most of my fish came from. Trolled from the mouth of salmon river, at a NW heading. Out to 140fow. Fish were down 35-60'. Typical fishing this time of year. Slow. There's a lot of small fish around. The browns seem different this year, more aggressive. (Sounds like they added some more wild genes to the fish coming out of the Rome fish hatchery) -

It reminds me of the demise of Sears. Their products are high quality and highly overpriced, although lately their prices did come down. When Rob was still there, his knowledge, help and friendly presence made me pay their prices without complaining, but when he retired the place lost way more than just an employee
