OK, so I am going on record saying I thought that the purpose of these were to minimize wear and tear on the last eye on a rod. I had 2 wire set-ups the past few years. One had the tips and the other didn't. I recently read this article and I guess I was ignorant to exactly what the purpose of the Twilli Tip is used for. The 12lb and 20lb versions track the best. The 15's have a tendency to spin especially on the way down. It has to do with the size of the tail in reference to the body. They still track pretty good, but in the rough stuff it isn't uncommon to get your line spun around the cable for a blacks release set-up.

We used these on our old Penn Yan, and they have been sitting in the shed since we got the Bayliner. They are heavy duty 15' Aluminum outriggers. 3 pieces that screw together. I think a total of 3 eyelets per outrigger. The picture above is very similar to the ones I have for sale. Snap weights when given slack or run on an inside turn will fall like a rock. The core reacts less sever. This is especially important if you are running this in the shallows for Spring BT. Its not hard to pull off the core when you don't want it. Rig 2 or 3 colors and when you don't want it cut the mono 1 or 2 feet from the core and put a small swivel on it. Now you can re-use that core when you need it.

The good thing with a mild winter is the alewife population should have a good breeding season. Which I think we desperately need looking at DEC results reporting the decline from the "hay" days.

Some great points on this thread. I can't agree more with Gill-T when he says "If I was just fishing for fun and not tournaments......they never would see the light of day," and "I will bet you will not be impressed with the fight the fish gives on copper, and if you are fishing catch and release.......forget it." The fish take a beating especially on the longer coppers. However, adding one to the spread doesn't hurt, and by all means who are we to say don't do it. My opinion is very similar to Legacy's in that you should "buy a 600' copper and run it down the chute. gives you the option of working alot of different depths just by how much line you let out. No matter what you choose make sure you have your setups mark every 50' so you can know how much you do have out." Unless you can go buy each length this is the best option. Allows you to be versatile, and that's the name of the game out there if you want to be successful more times than not.

LOL.....that was CRAZY! 3-4's from a SW in 30-50' of water. Then that nasty NE that SHUT DOWN the bite on Sunday. Anyway, hookedup.....this has turned into my favorite tourney of the season. I only actually fished it once, but its a lot of fun. I'm not a very good shallow water/spoon King fisherman. That's the type of fishing you can expect. Like I said I have only fished it once, so take that with a grain of salt, but it is a great tourney! Eyvan puts on a nice show up thereto kick off that tourney series. Dont miss the Wilson Scotty either. Kevin Jerge and Eyvan do a number on this one too. A great shindig one of the tourney nights for everyone to get together and have some fun and some eats.

One thing to remember with the AFW over the other brands (Malin and Mason) it LOVES to coil after a little bit of use. DON'T ever let it go or get limp as you will loose tackle from it kinking. I am very anal about this on my boat. Something I keep constant watch on. Billy hit the nail right on the head. Its great stuff with a thin diameter. Definitely go with the camo. It can't hurt!
