  1. Thanks Tim! Well that sucks. However This feature also allows you to see where ur buddys are on the GOS without giving away numbers, if this is what your talking about Tim.
  2. I don't recommend waiting! When you get a chance to fish I say go for it. I'm no Pro, so maybe you could entice a fish or two with something in your tackle box.
  3. Well, my ol' lady bought me some Larry the Cable guy tickets for Friday night. So, I had to go and watch him, and boy was he funny. He came with all new material that I have never heard before. Earlier in the week I saw the forecast and knew this weekend would be the first weekend for me to get out chasing some of them Brown Trout I have gotten so good at catching. Well, I rushed her home on Saturday with hopes of making it out, but the rain was on its way and I didn't want to get the boat soaked. Therefore, the trip was put off till Sunday. Jax and Legacy wanted to go so we piled in the bass boat around 10:30, and off we went. Stopped at shipbuilders, which was our "honey-hole" last year, and not even a sniff! Picked up and drive down to Webster Park, and again nothing. Figured Hedges was only a few more miles, so we made the run down to there and as god as it looked nothing again! On the way back we figured we would give Shipbuilders a shot again. We tossed out 3 top lines and had the electric trolling motor pull us along at about 1.6 to 1.8 and right about the time my bait came out of the plume at the creek FISH ON! I landed a nice little Brown Trout on my new Daiwa Heartland noodle rod pulling a BPS Nitro minnow. After that fish Jax and Legacy would have 4-5 followers to the boat, but they wouldn't touch anything. Water temp was 33-34, so we were thinking they were still a bit sluggish. If the nice weather holds up this things should explode with hungry fish, so stay tuned!
  4. I have my radio linked to my GPS. The newer radios, or at least mine, has a red button that calls the coast guard in an emergency when pushed. I am under the impression that this is how the radio gets a location for the vessel. Its a very simple hook up. No autopilot on my boat so I don't have any other hook ups.
  5. I hunt down in Cameron. Sometimes come down to Bath for breakfast. Nice little town you have there.
  6. It starts when you can get out! Honestly...and when that period is here, which should be in the next week or two, concentrate on the creek mouths as they are pumping the warmest water into the lake. I run and gun creek mouths from Irondequoit to Bear Creek sometimes hittin up the creek plume. Now you can also troll the shore too, and when you find a concentration keep trolling through them. Here are some pics of last spring in March and April: My PIMP pose!
  7. Call Kevin Jerge (he runs the Wilson Boat House Marina) at 716-863-1001. He has some that he is blowing out due to the fact Raymarine is discontinuing the unit. Regardless, there is still a 2 year warranty on it unlike the 1yr Lowrance warranty. I have the DS500x and FLXTroutman has the DS400x and I have had no REAL complaints. There was some moisture behind the screen that would burn off during late morning. This was fixed from my understanding. Mine was an outside unit on the flybridge. So it took some more weathering than most will. I think the picture was great, and the side by side dual beam image is a great feature. In my opinion the two top FF companies out there are Furuno and Raymarine for what we do on the lake. If you want to go Lowrance to get the power you really need you have to step into the higher end models. That being said I am not a FF guru. Kevin Jerge is and he can help you with any questions you may have.
  8. I'm draggin my GF there Saturday morning since we will be in the area Friday night watching Larry the Cable Guy!
  9. Daiwa Heartlands would be my choice too. I ordered 2 of these for my 600 and 700 copper for the 2009 season: Salmon Hot Shotting & Trolling HL-SS 761HFB H F 7'6" 1 10 - 25 1/2 - 6 9 The dipsey rods that everyone uses are a H action rod, and this rod has the same action that they do. I haven't run it yet, as I just received my order last week, but I do look forward to running it. My reason for a shorter copper rod is b/c this is generally my "chute" copper rig. Therefore, I like to have a shorter rod for this so the distance between the tip of the rod, and where the line meets the water is the shortest I can get it. This serves two purposes. 1. That point where it hits the water is closer to the back of the boat for fish fighting purposes. You can control a fish when he is closer to the boat better than when he is 100' behind the boat. This makes it easy to go either over or under the copper rod that is out the back. 2. When you aren't running all 600' out there will be some copper out of the water. minimizing this will allow you to have to let less line out to achieve where you want to be. To have 300 out with a long rod might mean you really have 350 or 375 out, but on a shorter rod it could be 325.
  10. Those tigers are so pretty. We caught on there last April:
  11. Not a problem! You wont be disappointed with the product. Service on the other hand I can't guarantee, which is about the only downfall of the company.
  12. I went through Cisco. Go to their website and get the contact info. They always seem to be backed-up, which I guess is a good and bad thing. I don't think rod holders are their everyday business. They are a machine shop. Im pretty sure Maniac and TallTails went the same route as I did.
  13. Yeah, that was the 30lb fish from the Oak. You should have stopped by. Would have been nice to put a face with a name.
  14. I have played with them all! It took me about a year to decide what I wanted to do. One thing that I didn't like with Traxtech, Berts, Big John, and Vector was you were limited to certain positions. Where ever there was a groove or hole was the position you HAD to have. When I saw the Cisco's in action I said now there is the ULTIMATE rod holder. It locks in ANY position you want it to. On top of that it swivels 360 degrees. There isn't a position it cant go in! One recommendation I do have, if your boat allows, is to put them on a Traxstech track. It just gives you that much more flexibility. On some of the older models I have sen some of the hardware in the mount start to rust. A call to Cisco and that problem is taken care of. Recently one of the partners died from cancer. So the owner has some issues meeting deadlines and if you want a colored rod holder he waits till he has a minimum order for that color before he produces it. So, what I am trying to say is if you like these I would put your order in now. Below are some pictures of mine in action. In the first pic you are looking at (from left to right) copper off the board, high wire, low wire, and the corner rigger rod. Looking at the two wires there is no way any other rod holder would allow you to keep both of them that low. Again, becasue you are limited to their hole or groove. Good luck in your endeavor! its a one time purchase so buy what works for you and remember to allow your decision to be flexible in the future if you want to add on.
  15. I'll never leave home without my 600 copper whether its fishing Wilson in May the Oak in July/August or Oswego for a tourney. The majority of the fish might not be down there................BUT THAT'S WHERE THE SLOBS ARE!
  16. And that's with a spoon. You go to 20 per 100 with flasher fly set-ups, so I have been told by the originators.
  17. Can you run through those like you can run through a sprinkler?
  18. Good job! Yes, I am hooked too!
  19. Clarke, No one wants to sleep with you!
  20. Shade, Sorry I couldn't help. I'm young and only know the present spoon companies. Didn't want you to think I ignored your PM.
  21. Dave, how long is it supposed to be? I only saw about an 1/8 of the video. Then it went blank.
  22. That's a good lookin Bayliner in the beginning of that video! I'm loading the small version, and it isn't too bad. Definitely not fast! Regardless its an awesome thing to watch this time of year.
  23. OMG......that was funny!
