  1. Welcome back Steve. As soon as Hank's done with the ride, I might get to see you out here. Tom B. (LongLine)

  3. Sandy Creek is on the adgenda for treatment this year. (brought up at the State of the Lake meeting) Tom B. (LongLine)
  4. All Right.... Someone else who knows a good boat. Welcome aboard. Tom B. (LongLine)
  5. Think you'll be able to keep the lines in the water at that speed? Those turns might make for an interesting time untangling the lines. Tom B. (LongLine)
  6. TTF - I occassionally run a single bucket off my stern (outboard). If you do this make sure you attach the the bucket via a pulley/harness like you'd use with a water skier and clip to both rear cleats. This will always keep the bucket behind you so it won't affect your steering. Also make sure you only use enough rope so if the bucket &/or rope sinks (if for any reason you have to put engine in reverse) that the pulley/harness will not go below your cavitation plate. About 6-8 holes in a circle 5/8" diameter works for me. Lastly make sure you replace the handle on the bucket with a rope. Tom B. (LongLine)
  7. Your welcome. Don't forget the last of the 3 meetings (as Legs posted earlier): Wednesday, March 18, 2009, from 6:30 – 9:30 p.m. at the Niagara County Cooperative Extension, 4H Training Center Auditorium, 4487 Lake Avenue (Route 78), Lockport, New York. For information, contact Paul McKeown in the DEC Allegany suboffice at (716) 372-0645 or Mike Wilkinson in the DEC Buffalo office at (716) 851-7010; It's a great opportunity to talk to the guys who've been studying the fishery for quite a while, ask questions and voice your opinions as stakeholders. 8. Nem - It only comes in glow. Tom B. (LongLine)
  9. Hank - It's a combination free & fixed slider. Free when being raised or lowered then fixed when waving in the wind. Tom B. (LongLine)
  10. He was dedicated & we're going to miss him. Condolences to the family. (His & the Big-O fishermen) Tom B. (LongLine)
  11. The three rod rule was first discussed here a couple weeks before the state announced the “tax crunch†or any of their revenue raising schemes. I first wrote to Ms Diana at the NYSDEC on 11/26/08 & to the Lake Ontario unit on 12/5/08. The On-Line petition was posted on 12/7/08. The Governor announced his tax plans, including a T&S stamp on the anniversary of the Boston Tea Party. (Which I believe was either the 17th or 18th of Dec) The 3 ROD RULE says nothing about raising fees and I’m not aware that any of the tax schemes say anything about the 3 ROD RULE. Please do a search on 3 ROD RULE for all the threads to further investigate. I think there may be 4 of them. Also, the petition site is listed in one of the “stickies.†It's my understanding (& I could be full of it) that the "one-day" license is going to be a thing of the past and replaced with a 3-day license. In the thread I posted about the DEC Budget and where the proposed reductions are going to come from, I don't remember anything being cut or added regarding fishing enforcement. (IMO it's too thin now) Tom B. (LongLine)
  12. Had an interesting phone conversation. It appears that some members of the New York State Conservation Council board of directors are IN FAVOR of the 3 ROD RULE. Just missed their big legislative meeting but there’s hope for the April resolutions meeting. Letter & copy of petition to be circulated. http://www.nyscc.com http://www.nyscc.com/memberlistingslink ... tions.html http://www.nyscc.com/nysccofficers.html Hopefully good things to come. Tom B. 13. 1st & 5th are result of a secret gov't breeding project. They took eggs from an Atlantic Sluggfish and a double batch of milt from Lake Sonata Sea Trout and then incubated them in a 5 gal pail of fresh lake water at 62F. Project was canceled in 2004 as the dominant genes came from the 5 gal pail. Nice fish though. Tom B. (LongLine)
  14. Check out ringwood - How-To section. Glenn & Alan do great job. Also Caznik on GLF does a pretty good job. http://www.greatlakesfisherman.com/foru ... php?t=4665 Definitely addictive. Lot of fun to catch a fish on something you made. Tom B. (LongLine)
  15. I probably would have thrown him in Tom B. (LongLine)

  18. In case anyone is wondering about the DEC budget – Here it is: http://publications.budget.state.ny.us/ ... /encon.pdf And where the proposed budget cuts are going to be made: http://www.budget.state.ny.us/budgetFP/ ... x_DEC.html Please support the bottle bill. That nickel that is not given back to the drink buyer because he’s too lazy to return the bottle can be kept by the bottler or distributor. Unused funds currently do not necessarily go back to the state. DEC sure could use them $'s. http://www.nypirg.org/enviro/bottlebill/chart.html Tom B. (LongLine)
  19. Welcome. Give us some ideas (family info, hobbies etc) & I'm sure the guys will dream up a name for the rig. Tom B. (LongLine) I kinda like the "Henderson Bayliner"
  20. I didn't know that the localities could keep some of it if done locally. Monroe county gets to keep 12.7% of money collected. http://www.monroecounty.gov/?q=node/446 ... unications Tom B. (LongLine)
  21. Don't forget your trailer registration. Renewal can be done online at www.nysdmv.com provided you haven't moved. Tom B. (LongLine)
  22. Don't know about the new ones but I won't trade my 2 & yr old ones for anything. (knock on wood) Tom B. (LongLine)
  23. These are the New York (Lake Ontario) baitfish rules: http://www.dec.ny.gov/outdoor/47282.html Tom B. (LongLine)
  24. Welcome Mika - I'd love to run into some Atlantics the size you guys run into. Our Kings are something else though. You troll a little faster than we generally do. We like the 2-3 miles per hour. Live baitfish can be used on the Great Lakes if they were freshly caught in the Great Lakes or they can be purchased in bait shops provided they have been tested and certified free of diseases. Even then they can only be used for a few days. Tom B. (LongLine)
  25. Tom - Was there much difference between the time they were caught & the time were cleaned. I.E. 1 caught early in the day then the other caught a few hours later yet both cleaned at the same time? Tom B. (LongLine)
