Yes. Some perch and bullhead were being caught this weekend on Long Pond. Cranberry was still dead according to the guys I talked with. It should pick up any day now.

The fishery is constantly changing. Those that change with it excel. Those that don't change with it, struggle. In my 37 seasons on Lake O, I have enjoyed the challenges of the fishery changing. Learning new tactics and perfecting them is a challenge but can be extremely rewarding. Never be afraid to try something different. You may stumble onto the next big thing!

Last season I had a lot more luck running 8" flashers over bigger stuff. For example, the morning of the Sandy Creek Shootout, we ran 6 cutbait rigs and the fish quickly showed they were in the mood for smaller paddles and the big paddles never got deployed for the rest of the day. I run a lot of echips, kingfisher and Dream Weaver paddles in 8", 10" and 13". Somedays one is better than others. I put a variety of stuff out and let the fish tell me what they want.

Not even close. 3oz. of lead does not go more than 30' at salmon speeds. Put a paddle and fly behind it and you will be lucky to see 15'.

Its more than likely frozen.
