  1. Saw some slob 'eyes at the inlet today. Not as thick as past years but our timing may be off a bit. No northerns. Seems the water level is quite low this year. Water was clear.
  2. Thanks YT.
  3. Anyone know if docks are in at the state launch (west) or county launch (east)? Thanks
  4. Box of dryer sheets and box of mothballs.
  5. I happen to have some NK blanks which I may consider selling. 28's and mags. A lot of silver and black, many with assorted paint. PM if interested.
  6. A great addition to a great site!

    Welcome

Nice. Always looking for a cooler of ringbacks. Most of the time out of Sturgeon Point. But really want to get to Keuka or Seneca this season. Just gotta fit it between spring browns/coho out of the Oak, night time 'eyes out of Sturgeon in may/june and Kings on O thru sept. Did well on the ice on Chautauqua and might pull there. Think I need to RETIRE!
  8. Yep. Gonna mouse proof the trap and get my OB ready for the soft water. Had a good season on Chautauqua and the perch will be even better next ice season. I don't push my luck on the ice.
  9. Daiwa HS47 with braid backing. Not counters but a good reel. Not sure if a H27 can take 4 colors.
  10. OK, here ya go....Here's their plan....let the Asian carp in, reduce fisherman/boater access, then they will be able to place as many freakin' windmills as they want. Am I a conspiracy theorist or what!
  11. Buster, how much snow on the ice? Good job on the 'eye. Maybe I'll have to target them a bit more and let the tip downs get the perch. Probably going friday.
  12. Jerry, Thanks for the deal on the launchers. They both will fit on my HT. Great meeting you. Someday, when I'm ready for the tribs, I'll look you up regarding the centerpin system.
  13. Buster,we've made the 2 hour run down 3 times this season. Out of Maple Springs fished from 37' to 47'. Always brought home a bunch of perch. Limited once. Last saturday struggled while my buddy 10' away limited and my brother near limited. 8-10's and not too many 10's. Emeralds, spikes, mousies, Tip-downs working most of the time. A worthwhile drive. Haven't fished 'eyes or crappies, always focus on perch. Check out the iceshanty site.

    Shanty

Anyone else having problems logging on to the shanty site? Not sure if it's me or the site. Might hit the ice tomorrow (honeoye) if the snow's not too deep.
  16. Should be some reports at www.iceshanty.com
  17. From the reports I've been reading, not only Ibay but most hard water, I'm beginning to think first ice hot bite is maybe a myth? We usually don't get on the ice until mid january and there's usually 6". Anyone have opinions?
  18. Ray, I think I saw one at the Arney's Marina site. Go to used motors tab.
  19. Eric, I can smell that kabasa from here in N. Java! Great job, and having 3 generations in the hunt is truly priceless.
  20. I hear rumor from another site (iceshanty) that a 18" 2.7 perch was taken on I bay this fall. Anyone hear of this? Sure would like to see a pic.
  21. All I know is that I have a heck of a time trying to hit 160 on my electric in the winter. I either have to get my smokin' done in the fall or pick a warm, windless day in the winter. My next smoker will be propane. Hopefully propane can get me to temp when the snow is deep. I've been using the masterbuilt electric. Before that a Luhr-Jensen chief electric. I love to smoke kings and venison roasts. Smoke those roasts and shave thin on slicer for great sandwich makins. Goose breast smoked and sliced thin is also very good.
  22. Here's a link that makes for good reading. Some will agree and I suspect some will disagree. There are some quotes that I believe originated on this site. I used to be pro wind now definitely against. http://bewarenywind.blogspot.com/
  23. Do you guys have adequate prop clearance with the kicker fully up when going on plane with the i/o? Any drag or roostertails? Looks like a good set up. A lot of pros, any cons?
  24. Nice brownie! Way to go!
  25. Hey Sg, hope you packed your shanty/trap with dryer sheets. If I don't use dryer sheets the end result is chewed up stuff. There's still a lot to do before we get SAFE ice. Venison to go into the freezer, grubs to get, boats to winterize, maybe even late open water perch. Soon.
