  1. Nice healthy looking brownie in the last pic. Thanks for sharing.
  2. Just visited the new website, really cool. Check it out!
  3. In the past always had a lot of sucess with a flatline/sub-surface program up to about Memorial Day or so. Like many have suggested, start shallower in bays, bouys and shorelines where streams enter. Small Sutton hammered silver flutters have always produced and my favorite is a tandem grey ghost streamer (with a few orange beads) run out as far as possible on the surface. (Get ready, landlocks go nuts way back there) Lastly always run a flashy bait down in the prop wash. ( rigged live bait with a small trebel hook is a good bet) Hope this helps.
  4. Mercuiser service manual 1988-1993 4.3L (262 /V-6)Thunderbolt IV calls for spark plug 59571. As a personal suggestion, I would run NGK BR6FS or AC -MR43T. You may find others have a preference. Obviously don't forget to gap. Hope this helps.
  5. Like others have replied, always check the owners manual. I believe it called for SAE 30wt back then. Now with the newer blends available, Quicksilver 4-Cycle 25W-40 Marine engine oil is recommended by Mercruiser site and mechanics. I wouldn't use anything other than specified. Hope this helps.
  6. Danny- What your looking for to go around the doors is called PVC T-molding. It comes in different widths and colors. It is commonly sold to replace the edging on video game units etc. I ordered some( just google suppliers) a few years ago to replace on the doors of my Penn Yan and still looks new. Be sure to do it on a warm day and even put a bit of cement in the notch to help bond. Hope this help.
  7. Have to agree with everyone, the ticks have been terrible this year. DO NOT use any of the DEET sprays for ticks. It absolutely doesn't work they crawl acrossed it and its deadly to fish etc.. Your right on with this stuff. Just spray garments, let dry, and no odor. Last for weeks. http://www.sawyer.com/tech-bugs1.html
  8. WTG nice brown (or is that a rainbow strip down the middle ) Another advertisement for those FLT lures?
  9. Hank - Thank you for bringing this too mine and our members attention. It does always seens we find out about these bills after signed to law. As it appeares to me, we can relax for now. Most of us using this site are over the age 18 years and are probably not affected. I do suggest that you internet search signed Bill # S1639 and read it as a boat operator.(There is more to it than discussed here) For those of us with an MML, I read part of the article to find us exempt as well. THE PROVISIONS OF THIS SUBDIVISION SHALL NOT APPLY TO PERSONS WHO ARE: CERTIFIED BY THE COMMISSIONER AS BOATING SAFETY INSTRUCTORS; MEMBERS OF THE UNITED STATES POWER SQUADRONS; MEMBERS OF THE UNITED STATES COAST GUARD AUXILIARY; HOLDERS OF PUBLIC VESSEL LICENSES PURSUANT TO SECTION SIXTY-FOUR OF THIS ARTICLE; POLICE OFFICERS, PEACE OFFICERS, FIRE PERSONNEL, RESCUE PERSONNEL OR LIFEGUARDS, WHEN ANY SUCH PERSON IS ACTING PURSUANT TO ASSIGNED DUTIES; OR LICENSED TO OPERATE VESSELS BY THE UNITED STATES COAST GUARD OR THE CANADIAN COAST GUARD. THE COMMIS- SIONER, BY RULE OR REGULATION, MAY PROVIDE FOR THE EXEMPTION OF ADDI- TIONAL PERSONS NOT LISTED IN THIS PARAGRAPH FROM THE REQUIREMENTS OF THIS SECTION Enjoy the rest of the boating season.
  10. Like the guys on here said "run with it" I would love to come across one of these garage cleanouts. I'm sure if you list the items out and post a few pic. on this site classified you will have no problem selling the items. (Or you can sell it all to me cheap and I will pick it up )
  11. Great reply,I think we have all considered the options of losing a trophy and gear or catching more fish. I think you'll find more is better...enjoy your beer the next few weeks
  12. SWEET brookies, you certainly have a hidden treasure.
  13. I could be wrong but It appears to be a Dark Fishing Spider (Dolomedes tenebrosus) with the dark rings on its legs. Close to the widow but no worries unless your a fish! O
  14. fishindad- In reading your post,i'm assuming that you are renting a place on or around the N.Sandy Pond area. Be sure to do your homework if you're not familiar with the ponds. The ponds have a lot of weed growth due to the shallow depth and can be tricky to maneuver around sandy bars, heavy weeds, and rocks. Even with a smaller boat. Be sure to follow another boat out of the channel to the Lake O. on your first trip, its tricky.(And follow Buoy markers or you WILL hang-up and lose a prop!) Now on a good note,I own a place and fish often. It can be great at times, although tell your daughter to put the walleye bonanza out of her head. You may pick up an occasional fish but primarily it wil be bass and perch with occasional n.pike in the ponds. Have her cast off the dock at sunset with a small sunfish/shiner and hold on tight. She ever seen a bowfin? As far as the others, sounds like you have the arsenal of lures and livebait works well too. Be sure to stop at Port Ontario such as Woodys and they will put you in the right direction for bait and such. And don't be afraid to ask the locals they can help too. Good luck and PM if you need more. see the DEC site and map if you haven't yet. http://www.dec.ny.gov/outdoor/41039.html
  15. Bobby PLEASE put that air brush away. My wife will have to increase my weekly lunch money, keep dropping by Fat Nancy's on way home to p/u a few things. Spoons are holding up great . Glenn
  16. Lucas- I highly recommend a product "Peel Away -Marine Safety Strip" I used it a few years back to remove the bottom paint on my hull. Product worked great. (didn't hurt gelcoat) My Penn Yan is the same as yours and only took the day to complete. Just follow the instructions, its environmental safe but is not cheap stuff. Hope this helps.
  17. Just a reminder for those that are in the area or around opening camps,fishing...
