I dont have near the time in on seneca as Sk8man but one thing i have learned is have patience with that lake it can drive you crazy in a hurry. can have great fishing than for no reason another time you cant buy a fish. for lakers I found green chartreuse and white are the most consistent colors down deep. Dont be afraid to troll shallow for lakers this time of year especially in the early morning. for rainbows or LL I find my best luck is the top 70 feet of water again white is a constant producer and UV on sunny days orange is also always out to start some days that is the key. 28 size and equivalent spoons are the most consistent for me. as for browns good luck I can count my browns on one hand and thats over several years. I find that fish can be in very tight areas sometimes there so if you get bit dont be afraid to circle

Lead core backing and leader length?
ifishy replied to drag&snag1985's topic in Tackle and Techniques
you have two reels so start with the 10 color backwards on one than you get as much backing on as you can than reel it off of that reel on to the other one so it will be the right way on. the 5 color will be more of a guess but you know if will hold the same amount the 10 color did plus some. -
best way to get better at this hobby keep tinkering

I had an issue where the starter would turn but not fast enough to send the bendex ended up being a combo of starter near its end a bad solinoid and a corroded battery wire (not at connection) I was losing just enough power that the starter couldn't do it. Had it rebuilt got a new solinoid and wire good since than so far according to my multi meter I was only losing about .4 bolts to the starter Sent from my XT1080 using Lake Ontario United mobile app

I used to drive that going the other way all the time when i was younger looking for a good bite. had a lot of great days as the various places

pick a spot on the rod about a foot from the reel say end of the handle or some marking grab the line at the reel pull till your hand hits that mark and count. once you get that as a practiced motion you will be able to quickly count out the line. it is very consistently repeatable and can be set fairly quick

i have both in my spread I love my great lakes models they are hand me downs from my dad and are what i grew up using in the 80s and 90s the accudepths are not bad but the older GL models are better built.
-
that sounds interesting what kind of speed do you run that set up at. I usually speed up a bit when i put out a bow and LL spread. Browns I usually slow down but i dont fish them on the fingerlakes much mostly because i have never done well with them.

That is the same one I've been obsessing over I figure in 2-3 years when I'm ready for my next boat this year's model will be on the market for the right price Sent from my XT1080 using Lake Ontario United mobile app

I'm still a bit of time away but have been doing the same search crestliner has a new model the authority that looks like a nice option there are other options in that same style to I thinks it's smokercraft has some to look at and for a more utilitarian feel duraweld has a decent model I do love the fish masters though Sent from my XT1080 using Lake Ontario United mobile app

Bear creek status
ifishy replied to suttontroller94's topic in New York Fishing Reports - Lake Ontario (South Shore)
nice bag some good size on those two I'm itching to get the boat ready but have to wait at least 2 more weeks for other reasons. I spent some time on a trib today and did some decent browns but mostly i spent the day working on the trolling gear. lake had nice color to it but looked a bit choppy this afternoon. -

Just need the tow vehicle plate number you can get the pass ahead of time as well plan for late morning this time of year that works fine and if Bear is a no go pick a direction and work your way down I bay has the bridge in but if your boat isn't to high you can get under Sent from my XT1080 using Lake Ontario United mobile app -

thats not true you can pay at the rec center which is on knickerbocker road and they accept credit they are open on saturdays but I dont know how early my schedule means I usually dont get out till after 8. launch fee was 5$ last year. you can also buy a season pass at the town hall. just know the plate number of your tow vehicle. its a decent launch but if there is any roll out of the north or north west it can get interesting especially early season before the dock is in. -
South bay tackle on empire has a service that I used last year took a couple weeks but I had no rush I found several others but they had a good price and convince as I was going to be in that area anyway Sent from my XT1080 using Lake Ontario United mobile app
