why would the turbidity be measured by lowering a disk into the water this leaves way to much open for interperatation. think if his eyes were slowly worsening over the years as happens to us all the water could be the same and he would percieve an increase in turbidity. heck imagine if he was developing cataracts. the only way to take a true measure is to run the sample through a spectrometer and measure absorbtion. the disk method is a rough and very basic example of the principle. I dont have the years of experience on seneca that some have but in the 10 years i've been in the area I would say the water has gotten clearer but this is very subjective. also as BS said a lot more was dumped into the lake pre clean water act than is now. that the lake is changing sure but as has been stated i dont think you can point to any fewer than a dozen different causes and they are not all pushing in the same way. As for the selling of perch well if the population is in decline than limiting any of the pressures on the population can potentially help. If a population is not in decline than it is maintaining balance. The pressure would not come from selling per say but from overharvest of populations in decline. The theory is that selling encourages through monetary reward the practice of overharvest beyond what the regulations allow. Better enforcement would be great but costly. Better use of technology could make management at the buyer level much more feasable. for example fish sales can all be done through an online database. Id (drivers license) is required to sell that id number is tacked to each sale and available realtime anywhare in the world. if that id number is tied to sales of qtys more than allowed to be harvested than you can mail the fine to the offender. maybe the change should be to limit the number one can sell in any given period of time? or maybe it really does have to be on a regional basis maybe a limited selling season to protect a spawn. Maybe the fingers really cant support the harvest. I dont really fish perch but I know if one population crashes it can effect the whole system so I think we all have an interest and hopefully the DEC can figure out the best option

I used some angle iron to create brackets that i bolted to the inside flush with the top of the rail. I than bolted a 2x6 on top of that and did a counter sink on the bolts. it made for a nice flat gunnel that is solid as a rock. we have been able to lift the boat up with boards to reposition on the trailer. in the side pic you can see the bolts coming through the rail (it had an overhang on the outside). there are more bolts on the inside through the brackets. put a coat of varnish or waterproofer on the boards and they will last. I have a board across the back for the riggers but without that I could have mounted them the side just as easy. I had a blast customizing my little boat over the years.

how did you determine how much volume a given leangth of line requires? was it by mass and density or did you do a displacement experiment or did you test it out? I only ask because if you did a displacement or if you used mass and density did you factor in the filling efficency of the line? round line does not perfectly fill space on a spool there is a protion of empty space as the line layers over itself. if this isnt taken into account than the reel would hold less than the given math suggests.

its not uncommon for predators to pick stones up off of bottom when attacking prey. over a lifetime of fish keeping I have seen it regularlly the fish will hit the bait so hard they strike through it and hit bottom often picking up debris as they do. I have seen my fish burp stones up hours later its fun to watch

watch the wind closely and make sure you can run to harbor in a reasonable time. I fished out of a 14ft starcraft for years and did lake o in the spring. just always had a constant eye on the weather and weather channel

bucket biologist strikes again think they have all the answers end up doing more damage than they could possibly know. interesting to see them get that big in there wonder what it will do to the lake long term. if its been 15 years and it only started with a few than the population hasnt had a chance to really take off yet but with a few breeders that size it might be on the brink. hopefully the pickeral in the lake will keep the population in check but will likely mean that those that do survive have the potential to get very large in a shorter amount of time

we picked up a couple of these at the show to he claimed they had real sliver plated on them which caught my interest. I liked the video that showed the action especially at higher speed had a nice wobble flip wobble thing going that was nice and erractic. Looking forward to trying these for kings. He also said he was based out of sodus. Its nice to see local lure makers I have had much better luck with quality from local guys than bigger brands FLT and great lake lure co being the most notable two that i have used the past couple years I have high hopes for these spoons the join the regular rotation
